Side table - sheep Salvador Dali
The Xai side table is a unique piecefurniture, one of a kind, made in a unique style. The table looks exactly like a cute fluffy sheep, which is very relevant in 2015 Sheep (Goat). The table is the work of the Spaniard Oscar Tusquets Blanca, who is an architect by profession, a designer and artist by vocation, and also a talented writer. The side table is part of a furniture series dedicated to the great artist Salvador Dali. Hence such an unusual combination of surrealism, shocking and extravagance. The designer was inspired to create this exclusive piece of furniture by Dali's 1942 drawing, which depicted a sheep with a telephone on its back and a drawer pulled out of its side.
The side table is made from a stuffed sheep.The designer used the same taxidermy lab that Dali himself often visited during his lifetime. As cruel as it may sound, twenty white sheep and one black were selected from the slaughterhouse to create the series of tables.
The designer placed a round tray on the sheep's back.for a vintage telephone, lamp or other necessary things. A small wooden box with a round handle is hidden on the side. The hooves are replaced by bronze knobs in the Rococo style.
At the moment all the tables are sheep are on display.at the Setba Foundation gallery in Barcelona. The limited collector's edition is on sale. The side table made of white sheepskin can be purchased for €36,500, while the unique piece made of black sheepskin costs €72,000. The price is, of course, prohibitive, but can a masterpiece of furniture art, worthy of being exhibited in the most famous galleries of contemporary art, cost a penny?
It's hard to imagine such a piece of furniture somewhere in a bedroom or living room...
