This master class will teach knitting Irish lace and tell about its application
The pattern for this Irish lace element waspublished in one of the magazines "Duplet". Such an element can be used in different ways. Knit several and, having connected them with a grid of arches, make a scarf, top, dress... You can use it as a central motif for a napkin or other knitted product. If you knit it from shiny threads and starch it until stiff - you will get a beautiful Christmas tree decoration. You just need to connect your imagination - the use of this decorative element is limitless. So, let's start knitting. For work you will need threads of the desired color and thickness and a hook that matches them.First, you need to make a few turns of thread around your finger - this will be the basis for the decorative element ring. Now you need to tie the ring with single crochet stitches. Then make one chain stitch and continue crocheting single crochet stitches - you need to fit 35 stitches into the ring. The next row is tying single crochet stitches with a “crayfish step”, grabbing the front half loops. There should be free half loops on the back of the product, where the next row will begin. This is how it should turn out.Next, knit a chain of 5 air loops. We attach it to the ring through the free half loops - through 2 single crochets to the third one. Then knit 4 more arches of 5 air loops. In the sixth, last arch, knit 3 air loops and attach the arch to the ring with a single crochet (6 arches in total). Turn the knitting. Make 4 arches of 5 air loops and one (outer) arch of 3 air loops and a double crochet. (5 arches in total). In the next row, increase the number of arches to 6 again. To do this, secure the first arch of 5 air loops into the last arch of the previous row.And knit 4 more arches of 5 air loops. In the last, sixth arch, make 2 air loops and a double crochet. In the fourth row, knit 5 arches, finish again with an arch of 2 air loops and a double crochet. Row 5: Knit three chain stitches in the first arch, 2 arches of 5 chain stitches, the last arch of 2 chain stitches and a double crochet. Sixth row. In the first arch knit 4 air loops, in the second – 5, in the third – 1 air loop and a double crochet.Row 7. Knit an arch of 5 air loops, an arch of 2 air loops and a double crochet. Finish the central part of the element with an arch of 10 air loops. Cut the thread.Attach a new thread to the base of the first arch of 5 chain stitches. Make a chain stitch for lifting. Tie the arches from air loops with columns withoutyarn over. At the top of the arch of 10 chain stitches, make one chain stitch between the columns. That is, 31 single crochets, 1 chain stitch, 32 single crochets. (On one side, the first single crochet is the lifting chain stitch).Tie the ring around the back half loops, returning to the beginning of knitting (fastening the second thread). The next row is single crochet stitches again. Increase in this row. From the chain stitch at the top of the element, knit three single crochet stitches.Having reached the edge of the mesh opposite the fastening of the second thread, start knitting with a “crab step” back.Knit “crawberry step” to the thread attachment point. (the entire “walking step” is performed using the front half loops). Make three chain stitches for lifting and knit 26 double crochets (there should be 7 stitches left to the top, the top is 8).Next, move on to single crochets.Work 6 single crochets into each loop, then 2 single crochets into one loop. 1 single crochet and symmetrically in the other direction – 2 single crochets from one loop, 6 single crochets. And 28 double crochets.Next, move on to the ring binding. Two double crochets from one loop.2 dc from each stitch of the previous row, 9 single crochets from each stitch, 2 dc, 2 dc from one stitch, and join to the beginning of the row. Tie a row with a "crayfish step". Cut the thread.Attach the thread to the 7th column (excluding the column of air loops) of the previous row. Make one lifting air loop.Knit 4 single crochet stitches. From the 6th column, knit 2 columns with a yarn over. And we continue knitting with double crochets. Knit another 20 double crochets. Then knit 5 single crochet stitches (crownelement). And symmetrically - 20 double crochets, 2 double crochets from 1 loop, 5 single crochets. Turn the knitting. This will be the first and only (not counting the arches) purl row in the element.Knit 1 chain stitch, 2 single crochets, 6 double crochets, 2 single crochets from 1 loop.15 double crochet stitches, 2 double crochet stitches from one loop.1 double crochet, 5 single crochets (the single crochets should be above the single crochets of the previous row).Crochet the other half in the same way - 1 double crochet, 2 single crochets, 15 double crochets, 2 single crochets, 6 double crochets, 3 single crochets. Tie the ring with single crochet stitches, return to the beginning of the row.Tie the element with a crab step. Cut the thread.Attach the thread to 1 single crochet of the penultimate row of the binding (not counting the “crayfish step”).Knit a loop of 10 air loops.Tie the loop with 22 single crochet stitches. Turn the knitting. Each time, knit the first and last stitch of the loop tie together with the loops of the element, as if attaching the loop to the main motif.Turn the knitting. Tie the loop with single crochet stitches a second time.Make one single crochet into the element loop. Tie the loop with double crochets. The final row of the binding is single crochet stitches. The number of stitches in the binding for all four rows remains 22.Knit 5 single crochets along the element, make a second loop of 10 air loops. Bind it in the same way as the first one. Knit loops along the entire element in this way. You should get 9 loops. Finish the element with a "crayfish step" binding.
