A hollow wooden one, or one made of papier-mâché, foil, etc. will do. The main thing: the lighter it is, the better. Coffee beans are also pre-selected, or more precisely - sorted by size, so that it would be easier to choose them at the time of gluing, without wasting extra time. Before starting to glue the grains, the base-ball can be painted brown if desired; in this case, you will not have "holes" and unwanted gaps on the finished product. In other words, the crown will be uniform. Or you can avoid the presence of "bald spots" in the crown with a double layer of glued grains. Then the surface texture will become more interesting, more relief, and the tree itself will look more noble. But more often, craftsmen skip this stage, since the protective layer holds the aroma of coffee and does not allow it to spread around. But the aroma is the whole highlight of the craft!Of course, you can deviate from the rules... Whosaid that the crown of a coffee topiary should be round, like a ball?! For a romantic gift, it is better to make the crown of a different shape: oval, elongated or, for example, square. This will look much nicer. Or a crown in the shape of a heart. It will express the emotions and feelings of the author without unnecessary words. Do not restrain your imagination under any circumstances! Any of your wishes has the right to be fulfilled. And a clear example for those who have a bad imagination will serve as photographs of topiaries made of coffee. Probably, a tree made only of coffee beans will not be so elegant. And to fix this, you need to put miniature artificial flowers between the beans, glue cinnamon sticks here and there, and sit a homemade ladybug or butterfly on the top.Trunk If you take ordinary wood for the trunk of the topiarya branch from the street, then it should be processed with sandpaper. Sanded, it will look neater and more aesthetically pleasing. Some craftsmen then paint the trunk in different colors (usually choosing a shade to match the color of the crown or pot). But the best material for the trunk of a coffee tree is willow: it does not need to be painted or processed with sandpaper. Willow already has a beautiful shape and color. You can also use a roll of fax paper or another straight stick, for example, a colored pencil or a metal rod, for the trunk. They also make excellent trunks in the "country" style, you just have to wrap the stick with coarse thread or twine. Some craftsmen, creating a topiary from coffee beans with their own hands, use colored ribbons for wrapping, which can revive any, even the most unsuccessful tree.Pot As a pot we recommendchoose a ready-made, store-bought one. But remember some important points:

cement, drying up, can give a crack even on the pot itself, so before pouring it onto the bottom, put a piece of foam rubber;
the sand is loose and will have to be regularly moistened or “fastened” with something to ensure the trunk is well fixed in it;
Mounting foam is not exactly an environmentally friendly material and is completely unsuitable for children's crafts.
