In a matter of minutes, we do a bulk decoupage of the box with our own hands
Materials you will need for volumetricdecoupage of a cardboard box: • Cardboard box; • Paper for volumetric decoupage; • Modeling self-hardening mass for modeling; • Acrylic paints; • Velvet varnish; • Glossy polyurethane varnish; • Structural paste; • Decoupage glue; • Flat synthetic brush; • Scissors; • Palette knife; • Rolling pin; • Sponge. So, let's get to work. 1. First of all, apply a layer of primer to the box. Gypsum primer perfectly isolates the pores of cardboard or paper and creates an ideal surface for decoration.
2.We use paper specially designed for volumetric decoupage, which has images of all volume levels. We cut out the first level image along the contour and place it in water for one minute. We cover the box lid and the image from the back with decoupage glue. When gluing the paper to the surface, remember that it is necessary to smooth it from the center to the edges so that air bubbles do not form.
3. Now we cut out the second level detail along the contour. We roll out a small piece of white modeling paste with a rolling pin to a thickness of 1.5-2 mm and an area slightly larger than the image.
4.We apply the image to the paste and use a palette knife to cut the paste along the outline of the image. We try to hold the palette knife at an angle of 45 degrees so that the thickness of the paste layer along the outline is thinner.
5. Glue the paste to the box, be sure to coat the surface and the paste on the back with decoupage glue. Press the paste to the box, also starting from the center and ending with the edges.
6-7.Now, pressing the paste along the contour, make the edge more gentle. Note that the paste should not go beyond the contours of the plot, which will be three-dimensional. It is time to glue the image of the second level to the paste. If you use Soft paper, there is no need to soak it, unlike a regular decoupage card. Apply glue to the paste and apply the image, iron from the center to the edge. Using a palette knife, press the edge of the paper to the surface and remove excess modeling mass.
8. Next we repeat points 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 for all remaining levels.
9.Now we varnish our box before applying the structural paste that imitates snow. We varnish the sky with a velvet effect varnish. It is absolutely matte and will give the sky a natural depth. We apply glossy polyurethane varnish to the house and the ground.
10. While applying the structural paste to the box, add a little blue and light blue paint.
11. Next, apply the structural paste using a small foam sponge or sponge. Let it dry.
12. Now we select acrylic paints of the required shades and use a brush to paint the missing parts of the picture - the sky and snowdrifts.
13-14. Next, mix the dry fine glitter with glossy varnish and cover the roofs of the houses and the tree with it. Use a round brush for this.
15. Cover the bottom of the box with blue acrylic paint. After an hour, when the paint dries, cover the bottom with velvet effect varnish. The box is ready!This unique craft made with your own hands will allow you to be proud of yourself and your creation.
