How to knit booties, knitting options on two and five knitting needles, with a seam on the sole and on the side, a seamless version, step-by-step photos and a description
In this article we offer you severaldetailed master classes on knitting booties with knitting needles with step-by-step photos and descriptions. Booties are shoes for the little ones. They are designed to protect the feet of babies who are not yet walking from hypothermia. Their history began in the 70s of the 19th century. Shoemaker Pinet was the first to offer comfortable, tight-fitting shoes for children. In the workshop of the Frenchman, they were sewn from soft suede, kidskin and calfskin. Now such shoes are made from a variety of materials, while the name has remained the same. Babies grow very quickly, so you need a lot of booties, warm and light, very different. They are knitted in many ways and in different versions: on two or five knitting needles, with or without cuffs, with a seam and seamless. Such shoes will come in handy not only for crumbs, but also for older children in the cool off-season for home wear. For sensitive children's skin, modern yarn manufacturers produce a fairly large number of different threads. Usually such yarn has a corresponding marking or mark. Even beginners can knit such a small thing as booties, and our detailed master classes will help with this.
Booties on 2 knitting needles
Option 1 Booties with turn-ups
You will need:
- Yarn thin with 50% wool content of two shades (darker and lighter);
- Knitting needles number 3,5;
- Needle and light thread in the tone of yarn;
- Scissors;
- Hook No. 2.5.
Cast on 22 loops with light yarn on 2 knitting needles. As usual, remove the first loop, knit with face loops, knit the last edge loop with the back loop. This will make the edge of the product neat and even.
And then there are possible options.You can knit with garter stitch. This means that all rows will be done with only front loops. This is how the fabric is knitted in this master class. You can also knit the fabric with stocking stitch, alternating a row of front and a row of back loops. Here, everything will depend on your imagination. In total, you need to knit 62 rows. The next step will be to close the first 8 loops. This is done in the same way as closing loops at the end of knitting. This is done as follows: do not remove the first loop, knit the first two loops as one front loop. On the right knitting needle, you get 1 loop. Transfer it to the left knitting needle and again knit 2 loops together with the front one. Again, transfer 1 loop from the right to the left knitting needle, etc., until you close the required number of loops.
Cut the thread, leaving about 3 cm.We tie a dark-colored yarn to this tail. Now we knit 4 rows with dark threads as follows: the first row is knit, the second is purl, the third is knit, the fourth is purl. We secure the dark thread and begin knitting 4 rows with light yarn. We knit the first two with knit loops, the third row is purl, the fourth is knit. Following this algorithm, we make 7 light flats and 8 dark ones. The last will be a strip of dark-colored yarn. The blank for 1 bootie is ready. It remains only to beautifully and neatly trim the tails of the threads.
Fold in half with the right sides facing each otherfriend, the bending point will be the beginning of the dark yarn. We make a side seam. Turn it inside out, this is what should happen. Now we need the thread with which the knitting began. We will use it to tighten the toe of the booties. Using a crochet hook, carefully pull it to the place where the light fabric transitions to the dark stripes (see photo). The thread comes out near the top of the first dark stripe.
We pass the thread through everything using a hookthe outer loops of the strips. Tighten the thread. We have the top of the bootie's nose. Tighten the lower part in the same way. Use a needle and thread for this. Do not tear the thread, sew the part of the light fabric with it by the outer loops. This will be the transition of the sole from the toe to the heel. We collect the heel in the same way as the toe, passing through the outer loops of the fabric and tightening them into a circle.
This is what should happen.
We secure the thread and cut it off.The top of the bootie can be turned up. Then you will get shoes. You can leave it in the original version - you will get boots. It remains to knit the second bootie. Option 2 Booties with a "tangled" pattern
If you are a beginner needlewoman, and the titleYou are not familiar with the pattern "Confusion", it is also called "pearl", "small boucle", "sand" and "buckwheat". It is very easy to knit. The number of loops for this pattern should be odd. We knit the first row, alternating 1 front and 1 back loop. Starting from the second and further, we knit over the back loop - the front one, and over the front one - the back one. You will need:
- Yarn with 50% wool content of two colors;
- Needles No. 5 for 1 x 1 elastic and No. 6 for the “tangle” pattern;
The length of the sole of the finished booties in this masterclass will be approximately 12 - 14 cm. Sole. It is done with garter stitch. We cast on 21 loops + 2 edge loops on larger number knitting needles. A total of 23 loops are obtained. Further in the description, edge loops will not be taken into account. First row 1 front, add 1 loop (in any way), knit further 9 front, add a loop again, 1 front, add 1 loop again, knit 9 front, add 1 more loop, knit 1 front. It turns out 25 loops (without edge loops).
Second row: Knit all loops as front loops.Third row: 2 knits, add 1 loop, 9 knits, add 1, 1 knit, 1 add, 1 knit, add 1 again, 1 knit, add 1, 9 knits, 1 add, 2 knits. Not counting the edge loops, you should get 31 loops. 4th, 6th, 8th row. Knit all the knits in the same way as in the second. Fifth row: 3 knits, add 1, 9 knits, add 1, 7 knits, 1 add, 9 knits, 1 add, 3 knits. You should get 35 loops.
Seventh row: Knit all loops purlwise.The ninth row is started with a different shade of thread. The first 15 loops are knitted with the basic "tangle" pattern, starting with a purl loop, *add 1 loop, 1 purl*, continue from * 4 more times, add 1, the last 15 loops with the basic pattern. There should be 41 loops. The 10th row is done according to the pattern. Over the purl ones, knit the front loops and vice versa.
The next 8 rows are completed without increases.the main motif is "tangle". Row 19. The first 14 loops are "tangled", *then knit 2 loops into 1 purl*, repeat 6 more times from *. We do not finish knitting this row, we turn the work over and will make a rounding. We remove 1 loop as an edge loop, knit 5 purl, then knit 2 loops with one front loop. Turn to the front side, remove the edge loop, knit 5 loops purl, then 2 together purl, turn to the back side. We remove the edge loop, knit 5 purl, 2 loops together front. At this stage, we got the second paired decrease in loops. Having completed the fifth decrease on the front side, do not turn the fabric over, but continue and finish the 19th row with a “tangle”.
20th p.The first 10 loops (excluding the edge loop) are knitted with the main pattern. Then 5 purl, 2 together with a front loop, the last 9 loops are "tangled". Without the edge loops, you should get 25 loops. The next 7 rows are knitted as follows: 10 loops "tangled", 5 purl, 10 loops "tangled". Take the knitting needles of a smaller number and knit with a 1 x 1 elastic band the next 5 rows.
32nd p.close the loops, leaving a long enough thread to sew the booties. When the seam is done, the elastic can be turned up and the booties can be decorated with decorative lacing using threads in the color of the sole. Option 3 Booties without a seam on the sole
You will need:
- Yarn with 50% wool content;
- 3 spokes number 2.5.
Cast on 39 stitches onto the knitting needles.Next, knit 18 rows (the height of the cuff) with any pattern you like. This can be a rib, stocking or garter stitch, pearl or any other pattern to your taste. The 19th row, as always, remove the edge, now begin to knit holes for the lace. *Knit 2 loops together with the front, yarn over*, continue from * to the end of the row. The 20th row is knitted with purl loops.
Now we divide the canvas into 3 parts.In this master class, there are 13 loops. If you have another number not multiple of three, then the extra loops should be on the middle knitting needle. Cut off the thread and move on to knitting the middle part. In this master class, it is made with the "tangle" pattern. To determine the length of this part, you need to subtract the length of half of the set aside loops from the length of the foot. In this master class, it turned out to be 4 cm. Cut off the thread.
Now you need to knit on all availableloops. We perform 14 rows as follows: 6 rows - front surface, 2 - back surface, 6 - front surface. Do not forget that now you have more loops, since the loops of the side parts from the initially knitted middle part have been added. In this master class, there are 21 loops on one side.
We knit them from the left (purl row) andLet's start knitting the sole. We do it this way: at the end of each row, we need to knit together the last loop of the middle part and the first of the set aside ones. On the front row, we knit them with a front loop, on the back row - with a back loop. We knit like this until there are 12 set aside loops left, 6 on each knitting needle.
We fasten these loops with a needle, as well as the seam that will go along the back of the booties, and not along the sole.
Boots on 5 spokes without seam
You will need:
- Yarn of two colors;
- Knitting needles for knitting socks;
- Hook;
- Needle with a wide eyelet and thread;
- Beads for the hearts of flowers.
We start working from the top – from the bootie cuff.We knit it with a 1 x 1 elastic band. There should be 36 loops in total, so we cast on 18 loops on both pairs of knitting needles. Now we need to knit 10 loops with a 1 x 1 elastic band on the first knitting needle. On the second and third, 8 loops each, and on the fourth, 10 loops. We close the circle and knit 20 rows with an elastic band.
Now we divide the knitting into 3 needles of 12loops on each and start knitting the nose. On the middle knitting needle, knit at least 14 rows. This will be the smallest size of the bootie. If you need to knit a larger bootie, then knit 16 or 18 rows.
Side panels of booties.To the existing 12 loops, add another 7, which we pick up from the toe, on each side. Add another 12 loops at the back and get a total of 50 loops. If you knitted a longer toe (16/18 rows), then add 7, 8 or 9 loops, respectively.
Knit 10 rows with the front surface. This is what you should get.
Now we start knitting the sole.We make it similar to the heels in socks on 5 knitting needles on the middle 12 loops. 6 on the right and left of the center. We make 11 loops with the front ones, then remove 1 loop without knitting. Now we need to knit 1 loop and pull the removed and unknitted one through it. We turn the booties and on the wrong side we knit 11 purl and 2 loops together. We turn again to the front side. We knit similarly until there are 6 loops left on each side knitting needle. We transfer these loops to 1 knitting needle. As a result, we get 12 loops on one knitting needle (foot) and 12 loops (6 + 6) (sides). We leave about 50 cm of thread, cut off the rest.
Now we need a contrasting thread.We will close the loops with it. We do it in the following way: knit the first and second loops, then pull the second through the first, etc. The advantage of such closed loops is that they can be unraveled. We thread the thread that we specially left into a needle with a large eye. We will collect the loops in the following way: we bring the needle out of the first loop of the bottom row into the first loop of the top, then into the adjacent upper one. Now we insert the needle into the first loop of the bottom row, then into the adjacent lower row. Then we insert the needle into the second upper loop, then into the third upper one and again go down into the second lower one. Following the analogy, we go through all the loops.
We secure the thread and cut it off.Now unravel the contrasting thread. If you are knitting booties for a girl, then using contrasting yarn and a hook you can knit a frill and a flower as decoration. Ruffle. First row. Tie the top of the booties with arches of 3 ch, securing them with 1 sc through every 2 loops. Second row. Knit 2 dc in each arch. Flower Knit a ring of 4 ch 5 times (1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc). Beads can be used as a core.
