How to sew a comfortable and warm children's overalls with a fleece
The jumpsuit is an excellent universal clothing for a child. It perfectly protects the child from cold wind in bad weather, while the child feels comfortable in it.You can sew a cute jumpsuit like thisfor your baby, even without much sewing experience. Your baby will always be cozy and comfortable in it. The simplest option will be without lining. But much more cozy and safer for the baby will be a jumpsuit with lining, which we will sew.
To make such a baby jumpsuit you will need:You will need: 1. A pattern. 2. Paper and a pencil. 3. A piece of double-sided fleece measuring 1 x 1.5 meters. 4. Light cotton fabric. It is necessary for sewing the lining. 5. A zipper no longer than 50 cm. 6. Needles and thread, chalk. 7. Elastic or cord. 8. Fasteners. If you do not have them, you can simply process the slits for the cord with an overlock stitch similar to buttonholes. The key to an excellent result is the correct pattern. You can make it yourself, having previously taken all the necessary measurements from the child, or use a ready-made version. The pattern is made on paper with a soft pencil, and then carefully cut out.
Once you have cut out all the pieces of the futureoveralls and lining, you can start sewing. First, sew together the back yoke and the lower parts of the overalls. All the resulting seams must be ironed. Then, stepping back from them about 0.3 cm, lay the lines. In this way, it is necessary to stitch all the seams except the side ones. Having aligned the two back halves of the overalls as accurately as possible, you can start sewing them together. At the very bottom, leave the seam slightly unsewn. This will make it easier to install the zipper later. After this, you can stitch the inner crotch seams. The hood is sewn on last. All its parts must be aligned along the edges and the center. The sleeves are sewn on last. After all the parts of the overalls are connected, you can proceed to sewing in the zipper. It must first be aligned along the edge of the hood, yoke and the bottom of the product. Now you can start making the lining. When cutting it out, it is necessary to remember that it is not necessary to separate the bottom of the product and the yoke. The lower edges of each leg and sleeves are hemmed with fleece fabric. The entire lining is sewn in the same way as the overalls themselves. All that remains is to sew on the lining. You should start with the hood. Then you should connect the seams on the legs, and then on the sleeves. The final stage will be making a drawstring for the cord in the hood and pulling it through.
And now our little one is already walking in his new jumpsuit!
