Pencil bench: acupressure
Sedentary office work and a sedentary lifestylelife dictates its own conditions for the selection of office furniture. For example, it is pleasant and useful, while sitting in a chair, to receive a massage of the back and buttocks with the help of special covers or electric massagers. Designers of the Boex studio have created an original piece of furniture for home, office, public place or exhibition gallery. A bench made of pencils is at the same time an art object, a seat, a massager and a stand for a huge number of office supplies!
It took more than1600 pencils, each of which can be pulled out, used and inserted back into the seat! And the designer interior item itself caused a real stir in the design world, collecting several awards from prestigious competitions and an endless number of publications in glossy and online publications.
The pencils are positioned with the soft rubber bands facing up,therefore, the massage is most likely soft. Of course, it is difficult to imagine that you can sit on such a bench or chair for a full eight-hour working day, and this is not required. What is important here is the idea, the concept, which comes from everyday objects in an unusual use. By the way, for the second bench of the series, you can try turning the pencils upside down and practice sitting or lying "on needles". And for the third bench, lay out a pattern of multi-colored pencils and erasers on the seat.
