Building a pattern of shoes for the doll and making them.
This article outlines the basic principles of creating a shoe pattern for a doll and shows the manufacturing process itself. So, to work on making boots we will need:
- doll with bare feet;
- materials for making shoes (thick cardboard, leather or artificial leather);
- various materials for decorating shoes.
You need to start your work with manufacturingpatterns. Our boots will consist of several separate parts. Upper details: vamp with tongue, rest of the boot (top) and insoles. To create a pattern, first of all you need to trace the foot of the existing doll on paper.This is how we get the insole patternand soles, where you need to mark the lines along which the vamp and ankle boot will be glued. Pay attention to the fact that the combat boot will be glued on top of the vamp, and the edges will be on top of each other. You also need to mark the center for gluing the nose and heel.
Now we need to cut out our sole pattern and use it to build a vamp pattern. To do this, you need to circle it on paper along the points C-H-C and mark the middle line of our workpiece.
Add width to make it more voluminous and draw an approximate tongue.
The tongue must be drawn at your discretion inaccording to the desired length. Add a little volume when cutting, so that if something happens, you can adjust your pattern to the required dimensions, and draw the side lines.
Draw out a nice shape for the tongue, fold the paper along the center line and cut out the pattern.
Apply to the front of the foot and adjust. Check the width and depth of the part, add or subtract it if necessary.
Next you need to model the ankle boot. To do this, take the doll and trace its leg on paper.
Adjust your pattern so that the hem length matches the B-P distance.
Add some width to your pattern, fold the sheet in half and cut it out. This is how the pattern of the ankle boot was created. Mark the locations for the lacing holes.
This results in a finished shoe pattern.
Now we cut out our shoes, taking into account the allowances for covering the soles.
Put all the pieces together.This is quite a painstaking job that will require all your attention. When preparing the vamp, cut the allowance for covering the sole into teeth. Now glue it to our inner insole along the H-C line. To ensure that the glue sticks together what you need and no more, stick your finger inside the sock, it will be much more convenient.
This is how it will look after all the manipulations.
Using the same principle, glue the top of the boot along the P-B line. The boot should be placed over the vamp.
Glue the liner into the middle of the insole.
Next, you need to assemble the sole by gluing the leather blank to the cardboard, then glue the heel. All this needs to be covered with thin leather.
Glue the top of the shoe to its sole.
Now you need to make the slots for the laces. Eyelets are ideal for this. For laces, use any material at hand: be it satin braid, suede lace, etc.
Now we try on the finished shoes on our doll.
