Candlestick with own hands from laurel leaves
DIY New Year's crafts are wonderfula way to make an original interior decor and at the same time have fun with children or friends. In anticipation of the winter holidays, our homes will be decorated with garlands, Christmas tree decorations and candles. For the candle, we will make an interesting candlestick with our own hands from bay leaves. Laurel is an evergreen shrub or tree, the dried leaves of which are widely used as spices. In addition, laurel is often planted in gardens and parks as an ornamental plant. So finding bay leaves for crafts will not be difficult. To make a candlestick by yourselfwith your hands, you will need bay leaves that have just been picked or slightly dried. Completely dry ones that break easily are not suitable. Also prepare a floral sponge, a knife, an iron, thin tissue paper, a candle and, if you want to paint the leaves, spray paint. But, in my opinion, in order not to spoil the natural look and preserve the natural aroma, it is better not to cover the leaves with anything.
It is better to dry very fresh leaves with an iron. Wrap the leaf in tissue paper and iron it well several times.
Using a sharp knife, cut out a round, cylinder-like shape from the floral foam.
Insert the leaves into the sponge in a circle, starting from the bottom. Place the leaves in the bottom rows parallel to the table surface.
Gradually change the angle of the leaves. The upper rows should already be "looking up", covering the top of the sponge.
Place the candle on the sponge and trace its circumference with a knife.
Use a spoon to make a depression for the candle.
Place the candle in the candlestick with your own hands andEnjoy its shimmer on snowy winter evenings! Bay leaves are rich in essential oils and emit a pleasant, but quite strong aroma. It is a powerful natural antibiotic and anti-inflammatory agent. And laurel essential oil, together with the well-known garlic, is used to prevent flu and colds. So romantic candlelit evenings with a laurel candlestick will also have a very beneficial effect on immunity and health.
