Lemon jacket-bomb (pilot) crocheted. The work of Irene IVAS

Hello, girls!Today I will show you a crocheted bomber or pilot jacket. A little history about the name. A bomber is a short jacket with a zipper, elastic inserts, and cuffs. Like everything in fashion, bombers were not invented yesterday. The bomber jacket owes its appearance to the Douglas brothers, who opened their flying club in the 30s of the last century. In those years, airplane cabins were open, so to protect their tourists from the wind, the brothers developed a special leather jacket. This is what they sold in the flying club store.But time passed and the Douglas brothers received a largean order from the US Department of Defense to make such jackets for the Air Force. The style was changed: they began to sew them from horse skin, plus a knitted collar and cuffs. The jacket was intended for bombers, and was nicknamed a bomber. This is where the modern bomber jacket originated. 20 years later, the brothers received another order for jackets. But in a lighter version, since airplanes had been significantly improved during this time. It was decided to sew bombers from nylon. In addition, the lining was bright orange. It served as an additional distress signal if the pilot ejected. He only needed to turn the bomber inside out. Students also loved these jackets. For them, jackets were made of wool. Harvard athletes first wore bomber jackets as a sports uniform. It was from this moment that bombers began to gain popularity. However, only excellent students or athletes wore them, so the jacket was considered a sign of the elite and wealth. Another 20 years later, girls started wearing bomber jackets too. They simply borrowed their boyfriends' bombers and showed them off around campus. By the 80s, anyone could wear a bomber jacket. In the 90s, the bomber jacket was still an item of men's clothing, but by the 2000s, models for women had appeared. Bombers became a uniform for many subcultures that were popular at the time. Among them were skinheads, rock performers, ravers and others. In Russia, there was even a time when the bomber jacket was banned because of skinheads. Modern designers revived the fashion for bomber jackets by including them in their new collections of 2013. Alexander McQueen, Dior, Victor & Rolf offer leather bomber jackets with contrasting cuffs and buttons. Stella McCartney has developed a version of a bomber jacket made of lace, silk and cashmere. The designers at Pinko also did not refuse a lighter version of the jacket, sewing it from nylon in a mint shade, decorated with lace inserts and embroidery on the back. The characteristic features of the jacket:

  • tight cuffs on the sleeves;
  • elastic elastic under and on the collar;
  • convenient side pockets;
  • short length;
  • zipper closure or buttons.

I decided to plagiarize a designer jacket fromAkris collection. And so. I needed: 1510g of ORION yarn 50g/170m color 4575, hook No. 3 (size 46), for the lining knitting needles No. 4. The elastic is made with single crochets behind the back wall (as in). I decided to knit tightly, in 2 threads, because in one thread after a couple of washes the jacket will no longer be a jacket, but a windbreaker, and I need a density that will hold up both after washing and during wear. New ideas, new creations, good luck and joy to all the girls! Knitting pattern for a jacket: Author of the work Wait, loading…
