Bowl for a fire with your own hands
At your dacha, you probably have a designated place for a fire.— a fire pit, perhaps a barbecue, grill or some other brazier for cooking meat and fish over a fire. We offer a great idea on how to make a fire bowl with your own hands from the drum of a broken washing machine. “Every cloud has a silver lining” — this proverb can be applied to our project. Owners of a hopelessly broken washing machine can reuse the drum for a homemade fire pit. If your machine is, fortunately, in excellent working order, you can look for the old drum in repair shops, at flea markets, from friends or at a household appliance dump.
To make a fire bowl with your own hands, you will need:
- angle grinder;
- nozzle-brush on the grinding machine;
- steel corners;
- heat-resistant paint.
Remove all plastic parts from the drum,central axis, thoroughly clean it from scale, dirt, soap sediment. It is convenient to use a hard brush and a machine for this, but, of course, you can clean it manually. Actually, you can finish the job at this point, put it in the yard and try it out.
An optional step, but still something you can raisedrum above the ground. This way, the fire in the bowl will be fed with oxygen from below. To achieve this, the authors of the project welded steel legs with a flat square base to the bottom of the drum so that the fire pit would not sink into the ground. If desired, you can simply place the fire bowl on the stones.
It is also possible to coat the drum with a special coatingheat-resistant paint for metal of any shade. During the day, the bright drum will look like an original garden decoration. And in the evening, the do-it-yourself fire bowl will turn into a perforated flame storage. Air freely penetrates through the holes in the walls and bottom, feeding the fire. If desired, you can put a couple of skewers with meat or vegetables on top, and bake traditional potatoes in the coals!
