Decoupage cutting board with photo and master class
How to make everyday itemsmore beautiful? Of course, decoupage will come to the aid of housewives. It is with its help that each item can become more attractive and extraordinary. Today, using the example of a cutting board, you will see it yourself. In order to start our master class, you will need: 1. Cutting board 2. Primer 3. Masking and regular tape 4. Fine sandpaper (1500-2000) 5. PVA glue 6. Sponge or brush 7. Transparent varnish or any other paint to your taste 8. Napkins with some kind of pattern to taste So, if the cutting board is new and no one has ever cut anything on it, you can skip this step, since the plane for decoupage must be perfect. If the plane has small cuts, then you should sand it well. 1. Sand it until the plane is as close to perfect as possible.2. After that, you should stick masking tape on the back of the board to avoid staining; if you don’t have masking tape, use regular tape.
3.Then take a regular sponge that you use to wash dishes every day. It is best if it is new and does not have any extra dirt or soaking wetness on it. After thoroughly saturating the sponge with primer, start applying the primer to one side of the cutting board until the entire surface becomes one color.
4.Once the board is completely dry, use sandpaper to sand the primed side of the cutting board so that there are no bumps, snags or depressions. Do not press too hard with the sandpaper on the surface so as not to get to the original layer.
5.It's time to determine what kind of pattern will be on our cutting board, and if it will be napkins, then you should separate its top layer from the other two. Since napkins with patterns consist of three or more layers. Then cut out the necessary pattern for decoupage.
6.Dilute PVA glue with water one to one 7. Apply the napkin with the pattern to the desired part of the cutting board using a brush, apply the adhesive mixture to the pattern in small strokes. Do not rush, since the thickness of the napkin is very small, when wet, the napkin may crease or even fall apart and the pattern will be ruined.
8.After the glue has dried, use a sponge to apply colored paint or varnish to the spaces between the drawings to give the board originality and depth. In the ideal combination of colors and the durability of decoupage, it will be good to cover the board with paint, and on top of the drawing and paint itself, to cover the entire surface with colorless varnish. Be careful not to apply paint to the drawing itself.
9. After painting and complete drying, use sandpaper to sand down any areas where defects may have formed and then apply another coat of paint.
This is perhaps one of the simplest and most visualexamples of how you can quickly and easily use decoupage in your home. Decoupage of many other items is done using approximately the same technologies.
Always remember safety precautions whenperforming any work with paint, varnish, sharp, piercing and cutting objects. You should not carry out these procedures in poorly ventilated rooms, without limited access for small children. After all, when painting and priming, paint fumes can harm you or your loved ones. And also, the surface on which decoupage was done, in no case can be used for cutting or any other contact with food, it is unsafe. Since any of the products can be saturated with paint or varnish.
