Beadwork of the Icon of the Virgin "Vladimirskaya"Church Tradition refers to the creation of this icon to the first century of our era. According to the legend, the icon was written by the Holy Apostle and the Evangelist Luke on the table boards from the house of the Virgin. Having traveled from Jerusalem to Constantinople, the icon in the XII century. was in Kiev, as a gift of the Tsaregrad patriarch Yuri Dolgoruky. From Kiev, the icon by the efforts of Prince Andrew Bogolyubsky was moved to Bogolyubovo, and from there to Vladimir, where it was a very long time, for which I received the name "Vladimirskaya" among the believers. This icon has repeatedly demonstrated the miraculousforce, shielding Moscow from the troops of formidable Tamerlane and the hordes of the Crimean Khan. To the "Vladimir" icon of the Mother of God they turn in prayers for pacification of enmity, for getting rid of enemies, for keeping away from schism and heresy, and not only. The day of veneration of the icon is set June 3 (May 21). To create such an icon of beads, you need to buy a glass beads on two cells of canvas, beads No. 10, as well as beads for a halo and a salary. Considering the size of the beads, we recommend using the canvas Aida №14. If you do according to the instructions of the counting embroidery, then the beads will lie flat on the canvas, without deforming. As a thread, you can use both white cotton No. 40 and white mulina. To make the beads fit better to the fabric, sew with a thread folded in half. In the following illustration you can get acquainted with the scheme of the icon embroidery of Our Lady of Vladimir. Learn about the number and colors of beads, which is necessary for this embroidery, you can from the table number 1. In the finished form, the icon should be 20x23,5centimeters, and taking into account the allowances - 30.5x33 centimeters. It is more preferable to stretch the canvas better with a hoop-type hoop, because the usual hoop does not allow you to move the embroidery from the beads while working on it. Before beginning masters often the question arises: where to start embroidery? Of course, starting from the center, you will not have an error with the canvas. However, it is worth remembering that when embroidering with beads, it is difficult to make docking, embroidering in different directions, which is not observed with a standard cross-stitch. We recommend making embroidery from the top left corner. For this purpose, we retreat from the canvas on the left and from the top edge to 5 centimeters and begin embroidering the first row to the end, following the diagram. This series will also show how much space will remain from the other side. Ideally, it will be 5 centimeters. Whichever direction of embroidery you choosehorizontally or vertically, the main principle remains this - embroider in rows, choosing the color of beads according to the scheme and using a seam called "semicircle". If at the end of the embroidery you want to wash your product (here a lot determines the degree of contamination and the quality of the beads: when using a bead inside it, do not once again wash it), then we recommend to sew the beads at the end of washing. This, in turn, means that the places marked in the scheme for beads must be skipped during beadwork. Sewing bead can be done during embroidery. That's all, the icon of the Virgin "Vladimir" of beads, embroidered with their own hands, ready!
