The quilling butterfly is an excellent example for learning the art of paper rolling. Based on it, you can easily learn the basic elements of quilling and begin to apply them in creating more complex crafts.To make a butterfly using the quilling technique we will need:
- colored double-sided paper;
- line;
- scissors;
- glue;
- self-made tools for winding or rod;
- Needles with a ringlet at the end;
- rubber mat.
Step-by-step instructions for performing the work:Paper strips 3 mm wide and 30 cm long should be cut by hand. For the product, you will need at least 4-5 colors of paper: for the body, antennae and wings. The body is formed from a triangular piece of paper measuring 3 x 9 cm. The shortest side of the triangle is attached to the rod and twisted until the paper is completely used. The acute angle should be glued to the resulting figure. Next, you need to cut out the antennae and attach them to the butterfly's body with glue. Let's start with the wings. Here you can combine several types of basic elements. For example, a free spiral and a drop. For a simple small butterfly, three drops and two spirals of different colors are prepared for one wing. These drops are glued together at the corners. And the spirals are attached to them from the outside of the wing. The finished wing should be outlined with paper tape along the perimeter. In addition, the wings can be formed using needles with rings and a rubber mat. Having placed the needles at a certain distance, as for a quilling snowflake, they are outlined with a strip of paper, forming curls. At the end of the work, the wings should be attached to the body of the butterfly.Ideas for creating butterflies using quilling techniquevery many. If you use your imagination a little with color shades, shapes, sizes of spirals, you can make very beautiful and unique crafts. Such butterflies will decorate a bouquet or ikebana; they can be hung on tulle or placed as decor on flower pots. Try it – you will see what you can do. In addition, butterflies are unusual gifts made with your own hands that can pleasantly surprise and please those to whom you give them.
