Before you start knitting a vest, pay close attentionchoose its length, because just a few extra centimeters can completely change the vest beyond recognition. This also applies to the neckline. So, let's start knitting the vest itself.
We will need (size S):yarn (50 percent acrylic, 50 percent wool, 250 meters per 100 grams) - about 300 g of gray, circular knitting needles No. 4 and No. 2.5, and regular knitting needles No. 2.5 and No. 3; as well as beautiful buttons. First, knit a 2 by 2 elastic band in this way: knit two front loops and 2 back loops alternately. Purl surface: front rows - back loops, and vice versa. Knitting density: for 28 rows - 20 loops on knitting needles of size 3 = 10 by 10 cm.
Knitting the back:Cast on 84 stitches on knitting needles No. 2.5, knit 10 cm with a 2 by 2 elastic band. Next, you need to change the knitting needles to size 3 and knit as follows: 10 loops of purl stitch, 15 braid loops, 32 loops of purl stitch, 15 braid loops, 10 loops of purl stitch. At a height of about 24 cm from the knitted elastic band for the armholes, you need to close 5 loops once on both sides in every second row and 2 times one loop. A total of 70 loops will come out. Then you need to knit straight. At a height of about 18 cm, close 22 loops in the middle for the neckline and finish each side separately. To round the neckline, you need to close three loops once and two loops once on the inside in every second row. A total of 19 loops will come out. At an armhole height of about 20 cm, you will need to close the remaining loops of the future shoulder. The other side of the neck is knitted symmetrically. Left side panel: cast on 40 loops on #2.5 knitting needles, knit with a 2 x 2 elastic band. Then replace the knitting needles with #3 and knit as follows: 10 loops of purl stitch, 15 loops of braid, 13 loops of purl stitch. At a height of about 24 cm from the elastic band for the armhole on the right, you should close the loops in every 2 rows once 5 loops and 2 times 1 loop. Simultaneously with the start of knitting the armhole on the left side, you will need to close 14 times in every 4 row by one loop. At a height of about 20 cm, close the remaining 19 loops of the future shoulder. The right side panel is knitted symmetrically. The assembly must be done carefully connecting the seams in one layer.
The vest is ready! Wear it in good health!
