For beginners, painting in several stages of the lion is the right decision
Drawing a lion in several stages isAn excellent option to depict such a complex object. For a person experienced in this type of art, of course, drawing this majestic animal will be quite easy. But if you are just a beginner and do not have special knowledge and skills, then the material in our article will definitely be useful to you. It is quite difficult to portray the king of beasts, a lion. The correct beautiful drawing may not turn out right away, but this is rather a pattern. To really get a realistic image, it will take a little practice and practice. Considering that a lion is a feline, try drawing a regular cat first. This will make it easier to portray our main character. But if you decide to immediately start with the image of this particular predator, then use our material on drawing a lion in several stages. The first stage of drawing – drawing the contours of the animal's head and body. We will begin the image, as in the case of other drawings, by drawing the contour shapes of the sketch. In the case of the lion, we will draw three circles, two of which will become the body, and the third the head. The largest circle – this is the circumference of the front part of the animal’s body, intersecting with the smallest circle – contours of the head. There is one small advantage in drawing a lion step by step with a simple pencil – You can safely draw contours without fear of making mistakes. Any inaccuracies can almost always be eliminated and corrected.Perhaps one of the most difficult, challengingWe have overcome some difficulties, stages, and now we can proceed to the next stage. We need to draw the contours of the animal's body and upper paws. Let's add two body lines – above the body and below it. This moment will not cause any difficulties. The upper part of the paws is a more difficult point. Therefore, we must depict them exactly as shown in the schematic picture below.
At the third stage of work we will needdraw the contours of the tail, all the paws and, of course, the head, giving the animal a more or less characteristic appearance. First we will draw the simplest, easiest detail, namely the tail. We need to continue the body line from above so that it connects with the front paw of our animal. To the same paw you need to add a small outline in the form of an oval, which we will connect to the pad. Also, you need to draw the animal’s second limb. Focusing on the proposed drawing, we will draw the hind legs. All that remains is to draw the head. Here we will also start with the simplest details. Divide the circle (outline of the mouth) into three parts, as in the picture, and draw a small triangle (nose). At the very end, let's draw the eyes.
At the fourth stage of drawing a lion we needgeneralize the entire image, in other words, draw the entire outline of the animal’s body. To do this, we need to carefully outline the hind paws, but we need to do this very carefully so that the paws have the shape as close as possible to the original (neither thin nor fat). The same must be done with the rest of the body and tail. It is these seemingly insignificant little things that make the drawing realistic. Now we draw the lion’s head in detail. All that remains is to slightly shade certain parts of the image and it can be considered complete.
We finish drawing the lion by drawing withmaximum precision in all details. Particular attention should be paid to the animal’s face, its fur and do not forget to draw a tassel on its tail. Using shading we add shadows. Remember that the drawing will look more attractive if you add some additional elements to its main plot. This could be the surrounding landscape, as an example.
If you have already made shadows, then it is better not to decorate such a drawing with paints or colored pencils. In the case when you need to make a color drawing, start doing this before drawing the chiaroscuro.
As stated earlier, cats and lions are a bitthey are similar and, above all, they are similar in their grace. Therefore, if suddenly your image of a lion does not turn out to be realistic right away, do not rush to get upset. Just watch the cat and imitate it. This way you will gain experience in drawing and the necessary skills. The next drawing with the image of a lion will not be so difficult for you and will turn out more correct and real.
