After the last stitch is made,the ends of the threads are hidden, the embroidery is washed and ironed, the last question remains to be solved - how to design the finished product. Most often, embroidery with threads or beads requires framing, in the form of a picture - a frame. Let's consider how to make a variety of interesting design options using improvised materials.

Embroidery Design Options

The easiest, but expensive, way to carryPrepared embroidery in a baguette workshop where the embroidery is made in a baguette. It will be necessary, only to agree the size of the future picture and a number of other features (the presence of glass, the type of wall attachment, the way to fix the canvas on the substrate). After clarifying the features of the order, it must be paid and after a certain period of time to pick it up.

Disadvantage - high cost of consumablesmaterials and work of the master, for stretching the embroidery on the backing, you will also have to pay. To reduce the costs of the framing workshop, such tricks will help - you can fix the picture on the backing yourself, especially since the author of the embroidery, doing the design with his own hands, will treat it much more carefully and accurately than the workshop employee. Glass and backing can be ordered separately in a hardware store - their cost is much lower there.
For standard size embroidery, you canuse special frames for photographs. Thematic frames are popular - decorated with marine or children's motifs. Openwork frames are less common. The material is metal, various types of plastic. The kit includes: frame, glass (sometimes without it), a rigid backing with fasteners. In this case, all manipulations to frame the picture will be done with your own hands and completely free of charge.
Besides purchased frames, there are many ways,make them at home, with a small set of improvised means and tools. Craftswomen use materials, the variety of which is amazing. At the same time, everything that is used is left over from repairs or was bought very cheaply.

Embroidery frames made of corrugated cardboard

A simple option is to make embroidery frames using corrugated cardboard (boxes from household appliances and other goods).
To make it you will need:

  • corrugated cardboard;
  • stationery knife ;
  • Long ruler;
  • pencil;
  • Material for gluing the finished frame (fabric, wallpaper, wrapping gift paper);
  • High-quality glue;
  • double sided tape;
  • Loop for fixing the picture on the wall.

Embroidered with a cross, beads or other meansWork, you need to pre-wash and iron it. The frame format depends on the parameters and the shape of the embroidery. The ruler measures the size of the area that will be visible to viewers, and is deposited on a sheet of corrugated cardboard. For the border, on each side, 4-5 cm is added. This is the back side of the frame.
To form the front part, it is cut out,a similar size detail, but with a window equal to the size of the embroidery. For a flat border, one front detail will be enough, for a volumetric one - 2 or more contours glued together. The embroidery is attached to the back detail with double-sided tape, special glue for textiles or even stitches with a needle. The main thing is to do the work neatly, without creases or skewing. Uneven tension is especially noticeable when cross-stitching.
The frame border is covered with the selected material before being attached to the main part – paper is the easiest to work with.
Nuance! The material for the frame should not be brighter than the embroidery - otherwise, the frame will attract attention, and the picture will seem inexpressive, secondary.
An allowance of at least 3 cm is left on the outer edges. The frame is placed on the prepared cardboard blank with embroidery. The allowances are glued to its back side.
The fastening loop can be made from a piecenarrow satin ribbon, smooth braid, jewelry chain. The piece is folded in half, secured with tape in the right place. The design is finished by gluing the back side.

The frame of the finished painting can be decoratedfelt flowers, beads, depending on the embroidery theme. Summer seascapes will be logically complemented by small shells, smooth pebbles. Frames of kitchen scenes will be decorated with coffee beans, slices of dried lemon, dried flowers - the scope for creativity is unlimited.

Openwork frames

You can cover or glue the outer and side edgesframes with beautiful lace. The color can be matched to the threads or beads, if the picture is embroidered with beads. The design will look luxurious if the lace is pre-painted with gold or bronze paint.

The advantages of such a frame:

  • Speed of production;
  • Low weight of the product;
  • Available materials;
  • Pleasure, from creating a beautiful thing with your own hands.

Embroidery frame, it looks better without glass. Suitable for embroidery beads, cross-like design does not hide the bulk embroidery.
If you don't have any corrugated cardboard at home, you can ask the grocery store for boxes that are used to pack candies, cookies, etc.
Instead of paper and tape, you can use self-adhesive film. It is produced in different colors and textures, imitating stonework, pebbles, wood, marble.
It is not recommended to cut corrugated cardboard with scissors, as they will crush its structure.

Frames of wooden plinth

The next option is embroidery frames made ofwooden baseboard. Materials may remain in the bins after the apartment renovation. Thanks to natural raw materials, the frame looks expensive and solid. To give the desired color to the wood, stains, different varnishes (their mixtures) will help.
To make a wooden frame for embroidery from a baseboard with your own hands, you will need:

  • Plinth (length, depends on the size of the embroidery);
  • Sharp knife;
  • scissors;
  • Fine-grained sandpaper;
  • Wooden beads;
  • Glue PVA (furniture);
  • Varnish, paint for finishing the frame;
  • Brush for applying varnish, glue;
  • hacksaw;
  • Small, thin nails;
  • Glass (optional);
  • Wooden beads.
  • - Corner ruler.

Nuance! The frame will be ideal if the plinth of the plinth and the glazing beads is made strictly at an angle of 45 degrees. If you need to draw one or two frames - you can do with a square, cut with a saw or a knife. To qualitatively, repeatedly execute the corners of the frames, you will need a special device - a chair. Sold in construction stores. A saw, a jigsaw is purchased.

Before cutting the blanks, the following are determined:the inner perimeter of the embroidery frame, it is marked which side will be the outer contour of the frame. The end of the plinth is cut at an angle of 45 degrees. The required distance is measured along the inner edge, a mark is made, and it is cut at an angle again. For clarity, you can look at the finished frame.
In most cases, the embroidery frame,has a rectangular shape. To make, you need 4 pieces. The parts are connected with cuts, glue suitable for working with wood, tightly pressed by hand. The corners of the frame are checked with a square until the glue has completely hardened. The glue instructions usually recommend keeping the product for 24 hours to dry completely. To do this, the frame must be left on a flat surface to avoid skewing.

After drying, the product is cleaned of glue drips and lightly sanded with sandpaper.
The glazing bead is cut into blanks usingwhich the design of the back side of the frame will be made. The blanks are tried on to the back of the frame, the size of the box is average, between the inner and outer contours of the frame. The glazing beads are glued together and to the frame, and are kept for 24 hours.
The finished frame is varnished and dried, the inner box, where the embroidery will be placed, is painted in one layer, the outer sides - possibly in several.

A rigid frame is made around the perimeter of the box.a backing for stretching the embroidery (thin plywood, high-quality cardboard). It should fit into the frame freely, after stretching the canvas - the size of the sides will increase slightly. The embroidery is fixed to the backing with glue or a needle and thread. The tension of the bead embroidery should be stronger than that of the cross, so that the pattern does not sag under the weight of the beads. After gluing, the embroidery is placed under a press.
The finished picture on the backing is inserted into the frame, nails are hammered into the glazing bead for fixation. It is enough to use one nail per side, if the embroidery is large - two.
If desired and possible, glass can be inserted into the frame. In simple workshops, glass edges are not processed and are very sharp. You can protect them yourself by pasting them with narrow tape.

Other ways of embroidery design

It is cheaper and simpler to make a framework similar toWay, from the ceiling foam plinth. From the tools you need a sharp knife, ruler and square. Such plinths are produced in a huge assortment, they are cheaper than wooden ones, even children can work with them.

Frame from ceiling plinthFor smallround-shaped work, you can use a hoop for cross-stitching or beading. After embroidering, the work remains in them, the edges of the canvas are trimmed, imperceptibly pulled together from the back side.
Regular glass in an embroidery frame produces glare.
Cross stitch or other embroidery looks brighter and more natural if you frame it without glass.
To the currently fashionable embroideries, in oriental style –pagodas, hieroglyphs, koi carp, girls in national costumes, a bamboo frame is ideal. These are 4 pieces connected into a rectangular outline, like a log house. If there is no whole stem, you can assemble the frame from bamboo napkins, previously disassembled into sticks.

The frame color is matched to any color, floss or beads used for embroidery, otherwise the frame will not decorate the picture.
An interesting vintage effect is achieved by using craquelure varnishes to cover the frames. After drying, the varnish cracks, and the lower layer of paint shows through.
Don't throw away cardboard boxes of candy- Cut off or remove the top part and you have a nice frame. Make a decor and insert embroidery, then another masterpiece will appear on the wall of the house. The voluminous paper that covers the candies is often covered with interesting patterns, what a material to decorate the future passe-partout.
Plywood for the underlay can be purchased in the assembly department of a furniture store - they often have leftovers.
