This design of furniture "Lufa" was the result of extensive experiments with a washcloth from a tropical loofa plant. The author of the concept is a native of Mexico FernandoLaposse, now a student at the London Central College of Art and Design. A series of furniture and handicrafts is inspired by memories of childhood in a hot country. The project consists of a screen, a coffee table, a floor lamp, dishes and flowerpots. Fernando for a long time engaged in researchqualities of the bast, trying to understand how else such an interesting material can be used and include it in the creation of other functional objects. As a result, each newly created object exploits one or several qualities of the material, such as lightness, transparency, thermal insulation, texture, amortization. The designer combined loofah with other materials, cut it out in various ways, experimented with shape and size. The result of the efforts turned out to be original and extraordinary! And if you have the inspiration to use your washcloths to create such original furniture and utensils yourself, then below is a small master class of the designer!
