Italian furniture company Riva 1920has existed for almost a hundred years. It is distinguished by its careful attitude to the environment, preservation of the traditions of furniture art and the use of natural materials. The founders of the company, the Riva brothers, even when plastic, gloss and shine were in fashion, made classic furniture from natural wood, treated only with wax and oil. They believe that wood continues to live and breathe even in furniture, so chemical dyes and glue with formaldehyde are never used in production. The company's assortment includes any furniture made of natural wood - beds, wardrobes, chairs, armchairs and tables and walls. But the calling card has become the use of almost untreated wood, with traces of bugs, with cracks and natural texture.
So, in 2010, Riva offered thirtydesigner collaboration, namely, to create a series of furniture from old briccole wood - oak piles from Venice, which were used to moor gondolas. The wood, darkened, worn down by time, water and insects, itself looks like a work of art and serves as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. History continues to live in wood, because, according to the company's philosophy, the wood from the piles is processed only with natural materials, without the use of paint and chemicals.
In the design of tables and other furnituremasterfully combines old and new, high-tech and vintage. Along with the worn wood from Venetian piles, the furniture uses metal, concrete, glass and polished smooth wood of valuable species.
In this way, used wood gets a second life, and new masterpieces appear in the world of elite, beautiful furniture.
