Clock from vinyl records with own hands
Old gramophone records can be used to makecute DIY wall clocks, and with minimal financial costs. But you will still have to work hard, and it will take a lot of time. Although it all depends on how exactly you will make a DIY record clock. There are quite a few options, among them there are both simple and quite complex ones, we will consider both.
Ways of making clocks from plates
1. We just install the mechanism.The easiest way is to attach a clock mechanism and hands to the plate. The mechanism is glued on the back side, the hands are brought out through the central hole using a bushing. The result will be so-so. Although if there is a picture on the plate, it will be much more beautiful (the picture can be glued, you can also apply numbers).
2. Give it a simple shape.The method is almost identical to the first one, but before installing the mechanism, the plate is given an original shape (heart, teapot, bat, etc.). You need to cut carefully and slowly - do not forget that the material melts from high temperatures.
3. Cutting out the dial.Cutting out the numbers on the record is done using a hand jigsaw or a drill with a special attachment (the second method is much better). Before starting work, the dial is drawn with a pencil and then the cutting is done according to the template. It is worth noting that this method of making watches from vinyl records is already quite complicated, it may not work the first time. And the second time too. And the third, because be patient and hone your skills in working with the tool.
4. Cutting out complex shapes.This method is extremely complicated, so you shouldn't try it without sufficient experience with a jigsaw and a drill, you'll only ruin the plates. It's better to practice on plywood or some other unnecessary piece of thin material.
5. Decoupage.You can read more about how to do decoupage here. But we think this method of making a clock from records is not the best. The thing is that the record itself is lost under the drawing. You can just as well use a regular sheet of plywood and cheap plastic, it is not at all necessary to use a record for this.
