There are many varieties of this costume, the proposed classic version of the outfit can be left unchanged or slightly diversified by changing the shape of the sleeves and hem. This master class describes the process of creating a classic version of the Snow Maiden costume, where a long, wide-cut coat is cut. The set includes mittens and a headdress for the Snow Maiden image.
How to sew a costume "Snegurochka"Creating a New Year's costume is a creative process, so you need to approach the selection of materials and accessories with imagination. But in any case, the outfit will require:
The creation of a costume begins with taking measurements andcreating a pattern. You will need such parameters as the length of the product, chest circumference, waist circumference, hip circumference, sleeve length and width. Please note that the outfit should be a little loose, so you need to add extra centimeters to all parameters, except for the length, here start from the height of the girl who will play the role of the Snow Maiden. Young ladies need a shorter fur coat, ladies of elegant age - longer. If you want to make the outfit more interesting, you can cut the sleeves and hem flared at the bottom and curly.
The diagram shows that the main part of the cape hasa trapezoid shape that slightly flares out at the bottom. The front and back patterns are identical in size, but the pattern for the front of the suit is cut down the center to create a right and left panel in the cut that will connect. The sleeve is cut flared at the bottom, with a rounded protrusion at the top. This cut will ensure an even joint with the armhole and a free flare of the finished product. To achieve the final result, you need to complement the cut with a stand-up collar, but it is better to make it out of fur. Spread the fabric folded in half and mark the half dimensions from the fold line. This is how the trapezoid cut is formed, when you connect all the marked points with lines and cut out the piece, it will turn out to be evenly expanding to the right and left of the center where the fold was. Cut out each element, do not forget to make an allowance of 1 cm in the armhole area to form seams, otherwise this place will have to be taken from the base of the detail and you will automatically narrow the suit. The product is assembled from the back parts, shelves and set-in sleeves. First, the side and shoulder seams of the front and back shelves are sewn together, then only the sleeves are sewn along the bottom line. After that, the sleeves are sewn to the main part of the outfit, and all the seams, hem and shelves are processed with an overlock. It is necessary to form the seams as evenly as possible, without gathering or tightening in any places. Do not forget to first match the shelves by throwing, try on the coat, if necessary, “adjust” the details and seams and only then fix all the components with final seams. When trying on a suit, do not get carried away with narrowing it, this is a type of cape on clothes, and not a narrow dress.
Now we start connecting the front shelves with a zipper. The zipper is sewn in evenly and neatly, it is better to baste the zipper first, and then go over it with a sewing stitch.
Do not pull on the edge of the shelf when sewing with a sewing machine, otherwise gathers will be created along the edge of the zipper.
The next step in creating a New Year's costume"Snegurochka" - fur trim. The fur strips can be cut wide or narrow, as desired. In this case, it is important to take into account the direction of the pile. The fur trim is sewn along the hem, collar, sleeves and shelves. Also make a stand on the collar from white material so that in the Snow Maiden costume you do not have to wear a scarf during street holiday walks.
The most creative stage of working on a costume- decoration. The outfit can be decorated with appliques, lace, beads, seed beads or sequins. If your fabric does not have decorative snowflakes and patterns, then start creating these elements separately and sewing them all over the costume.
How to sew a hat and mittens for a suit"Snow Maiden" To complete the look of Granddaughter of Santa Claus, the outfit should be complemented with a hat and mittens. These parts are sewn from the same fabric as the fur coat. For Snow Maiden's mittens, you will also need lining fabric. The easiest way to draw a pattern is to trace the palm and wrist. In total, you need to cut out 4 elements from the main fabric and 4 from the lining. To make the mittens look neat, first sew the lining along the bottom of the mittens to the main parts (the parts are placed face to face), then, after turning, sew the 4 parts of one mitten together. It is advisable to sew in an elastic band in the wrist area of the mitten - then they will not fall off. You can decorate the mittens with fur, appliques and other decor.
It is best to sew the cap from four wedges or from a solid strip of fabric. In the second case, you should sew 4 darts so that the cap narrows towards the top.
A fur trim is sewn onto the bottom of the headdress.edging, the top of the hat is decorated with a pompom. Alternative options for the Snow Maiden's headdress are a kokoshnik or a ribbon, decorated with the same decorative elements as the fur coat.
The simplest kokoshnik can be made fromcardboard and decorate with foil, glitter, tinsel, etc. But a much more beautiful product will be made from a wire frame covered with thin fabric - chiffon, nylon, lace. You can embroider such a kokoshnik with silver threads, beads, beads. The final detail of the New Year's outfit of the Snow Maiden is shoes. Suitable boots, preferably light-colored, can be selected from your everyday wardrobe and decorated with suitable decorative elements. If you can't find light-colored boots, then take any and decorate them with snowflakes, first covering the shoes with synthetic padding.
A wonderful Snow Maiden costume was sewn by our ownhands. It took more than one evening to create it, but the costume can be used from year to year, because the fashion for the carnival image of the Snow Maiden practically does not change.
