A detailed master class on the decoration of the old chair with your own hands. Photo №1What do we need to make this?works of art from an old chair: Wooden chair Acrylic primer Matte acrylic paint (white) Glue for decoupage Love4Art rice paper Russian pattern Two-step craquelure composition Gold powder Finish varnish Sandpaper Brushes Foam sponge Scissors So, let's get to work Sand the surfaces of the chair with sandpaper to remove old varnish and dirt. If the varnish layer is thick, it is better to use a sanding machine.Wipe off the dust with a damp cloth. First apply a universal white acrylic primer. While the soil is drying, we tear or cutour rice paper into the necessary fragments, and then you need to attach them to the chair, choosing the most successful composition. Here we need exactly torn edges, so it is better not to use scissors. We paint the chair with white acrylic paint in several layers, allowing each layer to dry properly. We apply pieces of rice paper tosurface of the seat and glue it with decoupage glue. We thoroughly soak the paper with glue, smooth it out with a wide flat brush, starting from the center to the edges. Let the glue dry. After that, we go over the places where the edges of the paper come out onto the chair with sandpaper. We need to sand the paper so that the borders are not so visible.Next, apply the first composition from the pair to create decorative cracks (craquelure). Let it dry, according to the instructions. After the first composition has dried, apply a layerthe second composition. As it dries, we see cracks forming. By the way, their size depends on the thickness of the second composition application. We wait until the second composition dries completely. As a rule, this takes about 2-3 hours without drying acceleration (without using a hair dryer). Now we rub the resulting cracks with gold powder using a dry brush. Shake off the excess powder with a brush. You can use oil paint instead of powder. In order to protect the surface fromdirt and fix the powder, we apply several layers of finishing acrylic varnish with a matte effect. Let each layer dry properly. For the greatest smoothness of the surface, it can be sanded again after the first layer of varnish has dried. Decorate the back with regular twine or ribbons. Our chair is ready! Now it is not only a functional piece of furniture in your home, but also a real work of art.
