How to make kanzashi for hair in the autumn style, traditional for Japanese autumn flowers of chrysanthemum and bell.
Kanzashi came to us from the East.About 400 years ago, Japanese women began to style their long, straight hair into intricate hairstyles that required pinning with various combs, double pins, or simply chopsticks. In those days, women's outfits were very closed. The kimono literally covered Japanese women from head to toe, and therefore mainly the hair was decorated. Of course, every woman wanted to look special and unique, so various hairpins began to be decorated with wonderful flowers made from pieces of silk. In addition to the decorative function, crafts made using the silk origami technique also served as social markers. Looking at the elegant jewelry, one could understand whether the woman had a husband and children, what position she occupied in society, and much more. The tradition of wearing kimonos and following long-standing customs was maintained for the longest time by geisha. Until the middle of the last century. It was in the outfits of “people of art” that Traditions of kanzashi for hair can be traced. It was the geishas who wore kanzashi in accordance with the seasons. Since it is autumn, the symbols of which for the Japanese were bells and chrysanthemums, we suggest you make these flowers using the kanzashi technique. They can be glued to a hairpin, crocodile clip, etc. or any other that you prefer. The first one will be the Kanzashi chrysanthemum.It’s very easy to make such a decoration, you can do iteven beginners. At the same time, a long wooden or plastic hairpin decorated with such a flower will become a great accessory, because you can make the flower in several different variations, matching the shades with the chosen outfit or other accessories. Materials for work:
- The white tape of satin is 2.5 cm wide and a small piece 5 cm wide;
- Candle or lighter;
- Glue gun or instant transparent glue;
- A half-bus of pearl shade for the core.
Cut 40 pieces of 6 cm in length from white ribbon 2.5 cm wide.Fold the piece lengthwise, wrong side out. Mentally divide the strip into 4 equal parts and cut off the upper right corner, occupying ¼, as in the photo.
Turn right side out and fold in half again. Now you need to melt the cut part over the fire.
On the opposite side of the petal, fold the edges overlapping, as in the photo.
Cut a little and melt over the fire.
This is what happened.
Now take a round base.You can use a circle of cardboard, or a large flat button. If you use a button, then you can sew on the finished chrysanthemum, and only then glue the junction with the hairpin or hairpin. In this case, it will be easier to change the decoration if you suddenly want something new as a decoration on this hairpin. Cover the base circle with a wider tape or just white satin material. On one side there is always a small gap in the middle in which cardboard or a button is visible. We will glue the petals on this side. Glue the first eight petals to the very edge of the circle.
They end up slightly overlapping. Glue four more layers of eight petals in the same way. Each layer needs to be glued a little closer to the center. All layers must be in a checkerboard pattern
To mask the junction and makeGlue a half bead onto a beautiful core. Since its base is flat, it fits better than a round bead, so it will look more harmonious.
The next hair decoration is in the oldest Japanese traditions – Kanzashi bell.
This master class is a little more complicated.It will require you to have basic skills in folding round petals using the kanzashi technique. Don’t worry, if you’ve forgotten a little or are still confused about the sequence of actions, we will offer you a diagram to remind you, and everything will work out for you. Materials for work:
- Lilac satin ribbon 5 cm wide (consumption for one decoration is approximately 70 cm, but it is better to take with a reserve of about 1 m);
- The green satin ribbon is 2.5 cm wide;
- The silver ribbon is about 25 cm long;
- Green satin lace 10 cm;
- A large bead in lilac tones of 8 mm;
- Medium beads 2 pcs. 4 mm;
- 2 pieces each. holders and pins for beads;
- The line;
- Needle (better long beaded) and thread;
- Glue PVA, a little flour and lilac paint (for stamens);
- Glue gun or transparent instant glue;
- Tweezers;
- Round nose pliers;
- Hairpin or hair stick;
- Burner, lighter or candle.
The zest and originality of this bellconsists of inverted round petals. It looks interesting and unusual. For the petals you will need squares of satin ribbon. In our case 5x5. Melt the cut edges over the fire. Fold 10 round petals. Here are step by step photos for folding.As you can see, there is nothing complicated. Fold all the petals and secure the edges with fire. This is what happened.
Now you need to turn the petal with the wrong side facing you and apply a little glue, as shown in the photo.
Press and hold to secure.
This is what happened.
Now you need to turn out five of the ten petals. As in the photo.
Now you need to fold the inverted and regular petals in pairs. You can apply a little glue for better adhesion.
This is what happened. Five double petals.
To make the bell very beautifulyou can decorate it with silver triangles (if you still have a golden ribbon, they will be golden). Take a piece of ribbon, fold it in half and cut it as follows. cauterize immediately. To do this, it is very convenient to use a burner, but if you don’t have one, you can get by with scissors and a candle or lighter.
Glue the resulting point to the petals. Look at the photo.
Now we assemble our bell using a needle and thread.
This is what the inside looks like.
Now you need to make the stamens.To do this, you need to mix PVA glue and flour or starch until the consistency of very thick sour cream. Dip one end of the fishing line into the mixture and let dry. If you want more noticeable stamens, dip them again after drying. The mixture may dry out a little, but this can be easily fixed by adding a little more PVA glue. After drying again, the stamens can be painted. It is very convenient to use nail polish for this. Although you can use any other coloring agents.
When the stamens are ready, you need to apply transparent glue to the center of the flower.
The bell itself is ready. Now it's the buds' turn. There will be two of them and for each you need to make 2 inverted round petals.
They will need to be glued together like this.
Now we will make it from pins with caps, beads and pendant holders.
Place on the pin, holder and then the bead. Cut off the excess from the pin, and use the round pliers to make a loop from the remaining part.
Now take a piece of satin cord. Lubricate the loops with glue and put them on the lace. Tie it in a knot into a ring. The knot can also be glued for greater reliability.
Coat the buds with glue and insert them into the holders like this.
For the basis of fastening our bell we tooklarge flat button. Cut a circle from a green ribbon and put a button inside. Go along the edge using the most common stitches. Apply a little glue around the perimeter of the button and tighten the thread.
Turn the base with the seam side facing you. Apply glue and attach pendants.
Then glue the flower on top.
In order for the composition to become absolutely incredibly attractive, you need to add leaves.
Make them into narrow petals using the kanzashi technique from a green satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide. We turn out the flowers in the same way. You will only need 5 leaves.
Now all that remains is to glue our structure toa hairpin, a stick or a hairpin. If you still have empty spaces at the junction of the base and the flower, you can decorate them with pieces of green ribbon.
