How to make a screen for children's puppet theater
The simplest theatre screen looks like thiscurtain. A piece of fabric with a square hole cut out can be stretched across the doorway – and the screen is ready. Decorations for such a screen are attached with ordinary clothespins. To prevent the clothespins from looking too rough, they should be camouflaged with paper flowers or mushrooms. Paper clouds, the sun, the moon, and stars can be hung on a rope stretched over the screen. You can also make a screen out of an ordinary ironing board, hanging a piece of fabric over it.A more complex option is a tabletop screen, most suitable for finger theater. Such a screen can be made with your own hands from a piece of plywood. The height of the screen should be such that it is convenient for the artists to work. In order to make a plywood screen, you will need a jigsaw and a piece of thick fabric (velvet, wool, gabardine).
From the narrow side of the plywood sheet you should saw offtwo strips 5 - 10 cm wide. One strip is cut into two parts. These are the legs of the screen. At the bottom of the plywood blank, you need to make two cuts - grooves. The corresponding cuts are made in the legs. The second strip is nailed to the top of the screen so that there is a gap of 3 - 5 mm between the strip and the plywood sheet: the scenery will be inserted into it. The facade of the screen is pasted over with fabric. The theater screen does not necessarily have to be plain. It can be pasted over with fabric with a flower pattern or white paper, and then invite the children to paint it. If there is no plywood and a jigsaw in the house, no problem: a screen for a children's puppet theater can be made with your own hands from a piece of cardboard, for example, from a large box from under the equipment. For greater strength and stability, several pieces of cardboard should be glued together.
A cardboard screen for a puppet theater can begive it a more complex configuration. To do this, take three sheets of cardboard: one wide and two narrower. In the middle, wide sheet, cut out a window for the stage. Using an awl, holes are pierced on both sides of the wide sheet and on one side of each narrow sheet, which are then sewn together with strong threads. The seams are carefully pasted over with colored fabric. The resulting structure resembles a folding house, the side walls of which are flexibly attached to the front.

Puppet theater decorations can be made fromanything. Bows from gifts are suitable as flowers for the garden. Houses and trees for the garden are usually cut out of cardboard or sawed out of plywood, and then painted.
When making a decoration in its lower partit is necessary to make an allowance of 2 - 3 cm so that the finished product can be inserted into the groove of the screen. If such an allowance is not there - it does not matter: to the back side of the finished decoration you can glue the stand or screw the wire.
Knitted decorations look very beautiful ordecorations made using the macrame technique. They are easily attached to the wire and retain a good appearance for a long time. By making items for a puppet theater with their own hands, a child can learn to draw, sew, knit, work with a jigsaw and a hammer, and acquire many skills that will be useful to them in adulthood.
