Nowadays there are a lot of pajama sets thatconsist of pants or shorts and a top. But still women make their choice in favor of a more classic option – long nightgowns. Of course, purchasing a nightgown will not be difficult, but you can sew it yourself. Just choose the right style, good fabric – and go ahead! If sewing a nightgown is your first such task, we present to your attention a detailed master class.What we need for sewing:
- the cloth;
- pattern;
- pins, corners, threads and scissors.
1.First, you need to measure your chest circumference and other measurements in order to know what the length and width of the future product should be. You need to add 8 cm to the length for allowances. Multiply the indicator by 2. Next, we build a rectangle using the obtained values and transfer it to the fabric. We fold the rectangular piece of fabric in half, and now we need to draw a line – silhouette of a shirt.
2.I cut off the excess fabric, but do not rush to throw away the cut part. It is perfect for making jewelry or crafts for a child. To sew ruffles, for example, you need several strips.
3. You can now move on to cutting out the openings.You can use your turtleneck or T-shirt. Place it on the fabric and trace the armhole line. Please note that we didn't even need a special pattern. Now let's sew the parts of our nightgown. The first seams should be placed on the sides, then go to the bottom of the shirt, and then only to the armholes and neckline.
4. A small elastic band is sewn into the top front of the shirt. You can use ruffles to decorate your nightgown. We attach them to the bottom of the shirt.
5. Try on the shirt, determine the desired length of the straps. The straps are made from fabric scraps. You can also sew ruffles onto the straps.
The nightgown is ready!You can also sew a satin ribbon bow on the front. You need to choose natural fabric for your nightgown so that your body feels comfortable. If you are sewing a nightgown for the winter, then flannel is quite suitable. And in the summer you will be comfortable in a cotton or cotton nightie. In such a hand-sewn nightgown, you will have wonderful dreams and sleep soundly!
