The latest fashion trends have brought back to us products, made from fabric scraps. Patchwork is once again at the peak of its popularity. It will be useful for all lovers of making original items with their own hands. In this article, we will dwell in more detail on making a blanket using the patchwork technique, as well as decorating an old chest of drawers with fabric. Decorative blanketFor this work you need to prepare a largenumber of pieces of cotton fabric (the more varied the color scheme, the better), a sewing machine, a piece of soap or something similar to apply markings, and other tools that may be needed when working with fabric. First, you need to prepare fabric pieces measuring 5 by 5 cm. You need to lay them out into one large square. As a result, you should get a quadrangle with one side consisting of light fabric squares, and the other - of dark ones. Do this work, sewing the squares together into long strips. Seam allowances should be ironed in one direction. If you are using chintz for work, you do not need to touch the allowances. Now you need to connect the strips and sew one square from them. The ideal option would be when the quadrangle consists of 25 pieces. As a result, you should get 48 similar squares. They will make up the decorative part of the bedspread. Now lay out one large square from all the available squares, trying to choose the most original combination of all the colors and patterns. Next, you should start making the fabric lining and the pattern of the padding polyester filler. They should be about 7 cm larger than the decorative side. When all three parts are ready, they should be sewn together. This work should be started from the middle. When all the parts are sewn together, cut off the excess from the lining part and padding polyester. Process the edges with piping. In the case of making a summer bedspread, a layer of padding polyester will be superfluous. Decorating an old chest of drawers using the patchwork technique
Prepare two pieces of fabric that match each other.with a friend on texture and color, PVA, a paintbrush (the wider the better), a ruler and scissors. First, you need to measure the parts of the chest of drawers that you want to decorate. Cut out the corresponding parts from the fabric, leaving the same allowances on each side (1 cm on each side will be enough). To decorate the front panels of the drawers, remove them, coat them with glue and apply the fabric. To prevent air bubbles from forming, you need to coat the second layer of glue on top of the fabric. After the glue dries, the entire surface will become glossy. Glue the side surfaces in the same way. But for the tabletop, you should choose a different material that contrasts in color with the first. Now proceed to decorating the legs. Choose parts similar in size to the legs and glue them. If the work is not very neat, additionally decorate the legs with lace, ribbons or braid. Once everything is dry, screw the handles back into place.
