Now the fashion for walls decorated with fabric is returning, since such decoration is not too expensive and very elegant. Before starting work, it is worth preparing the following materials and tools:
- scissors;
- fabric made from natural fibers (preferably silk, linen or cotton);
- cutter (can be replaced with a stationery knife);
- bowl (deep enough);
- roller with a duck (paint);
- highly concentrated air conditioner, used for starching.
Modern textile production producesThere are quite a lot of fabrics that are ideal for decorating walls. The main thing is that they are elastic, waterproof, durable, strong and resistant to dirt. Experts agree that such materials primarily include wool with the addition of viscose or polyester, cotton fabric, natural linen. There are also fabrics treated with moisture-resistant impregnation - damask, jacquard, tapestry. They can also be used to decorate walls. It is worth avoiding the use of fiberglass materials. 1. It is necessary to measure the area of the wall that you plan to decorate with fabric, and make a cutting according to the obtained dimensions. Do not forget to cut the fabric with an overlap, so that later you can remove the excess, and not suffer with the wrong dimensions.
2.Soak the piece thoroughly in conditioner, then squeeze it out. Don't rush to pour out the conditioner, you'll still need it to glue the fabric. Before that, you can conduct a small experiment on a small piece of fabric in the most inconspicuous place on the wall.
3. The damp cloth sticks to the wall very well, but it would be a good idea to additionally secure it with buttons. Otherwise, it may slide down.
4.Similar to smoothing wallpaper, do the same operation with fabric, using your hands and a roller. It happens that during smoothing, part of the fabric dries out. If this happens, dip the roller in conditioner and continue smoothing.
5. All that remains is to cut off the excess pieces of fabric.It is best to use a cutter for this, but if you don't have one, a regular stationery knife will do. Trimming should be done before the fabric dries completely. As a rule, the fabric dries in a couple of hours. If you find bubbles, don't panic, just dip the roller into the conditioner and smooth out the area.
Now you can admire your work. We are sure that this method of decoration will suit you and you will decorate more than one room with it.
