We knit a New Year's snowman with a crochet with a detailed master-class, supplemented by step-by-step photos
On the eve of the New Year, I really want to give mygive your home a festive and cozy look, hang garlands, decorate the Christmas tree, and place cute handmade New Year's figurines. To crochet a snowman figurine, you don't need to be a great master, you just need to be able to knit a chain of air loops and knit single crochets. Materials and tools:
- white acrylic yarn with metallic thread - 60 g;
- grey acrylic yarn with metallic thread – 10 g;
- green wool yarn - 20 g;
- orange wool yarn - 5 g;
- hook 1 mm;
- ball or solid ball with a diameter of 7 cm;
- holofiber (filler) - a lump the size of a fist;
- red thread for the mouth;
- black half-beads for the eyes;
- sewing thread of white, orange and black colors.
Manufacturing procedure:The snowman's body and head are knitted in almost the same way. First, a chain of air loops is knitted, which is then closed into a ring, from this ring several single crochets are knitted, forming a small circle. Then, row by row, the number of single crochets increases, and the diameter of the circle, accordingly, too. Then 4-5 rows are knitted without increasing the number of loops, and after that, row by row, the number of single crochets begins to decrease, the diameter of the circle decreases, and, finally, it comes to nothing. For stability, I inserted a small ball into the snowman's body, and simply stuffed the head, arms, legs and nose with holofiber. If you do not have a suitable ball, you can do without it, stuffing it, like the snowman's head, with holofiber. But it will turn out better with a ball. And now, about everything in order. Let's start with the body. Create a chain of 3 air loops.Close the chain with a ring, knit onechain stitch for lifting, and then, stepping each time inside this ring, knit 6 single crochets and one chain stitch for joining. You will get a small circle.Start the third row with the one needed for liftingchain stitch, and then from each space between the loops of the previous row, knit two single crochet stitches. In the previous row, thanks to the connecting loop, you got 7 spaces, so when you knit 2 stitches from each space, you will end up with a circle consisting of 14 single crochet stitches.Next, knit 6 more rows, adding in each6th loop one single crochet. Then it is convenient to continue knitting in a spiral. In order not to get confused when counting loops and to understand where the next row begins, I marked the beginning of the row with a red thread.In the end, you should have a circle,the diameter of which depends on the thickness of the thread, I got a circle with a diameter of just over 7 cm. It is not necessary to knit exactly 6 rows, adding one column in every sixth loop, as I did. The main thing is that the diameter of the circle corresponds to the diameter of the ball or ball that you will use for the body of the snowman.Knit the next four rows without increasing.number of loops, and you will see that your knitting will begin to take the shape of a hemisphere. Note that for reference, I tied a red thread in the place from which I began to knit rows without adding loops. Now is the time to insert the base of our knitting - a ball or a ball. I already had a tied ball, which I made earlier, but did not use anywhere, and here it came in handy. I again marked the last row with a red thread and the place from which I will begin to decrease the loops.Knit six rows, knitting each one together6th and 7th loops. Here's how to do it. First, knit together the loops from the 6th and 7th loops, you will have two loops on your hook, now knit them together. Knit the last row by knitting together each pair of stitches.Pull the loop out from the opposite end of the remaining hole and knit the last column.Knit one chain stitch and pull it out.Cut the thread and tighten.Our snowman's body is ready.To knit the snowman's head, do everything exactly the same way, but to make the circle smaller in diameter, add one loop in every sixth loop, knit not six rows, but four or even three. Look, try the head on the body, so that everything is proportional. Stuff the head with holofiber, it will look more natural than if you knitted a ball for the head. When the head is ready, take an orange thread, knit a chain of 11 loops and close it into a ring.Knit six rows without adding stitches.Then knit two more rows, decreasing the number of loops in each, knitting together each pair of loops.At the end – tighten and hide the thread. Fill the carrot nose with holofiber.Using regular sewing thread (thin) of orange color, inconspicuously sew the nose to the head.Sew half beads in place of the eyes using black sewing thread.Sew the head to the body (also using thin white sewing thread).Now let's deal with the main attribute of anyclassic snowman - we will knit a bucket for his head. We will start with a chain of 3 air loops, then knit 6 single crochets from the resulting ring. In the third row, knit two columns in each gap, and then, as usual, knit in a spiral, adding a loop in every sixth loop of the previous row. Doing this, you will knit a circle - the bottom of the future bucket.Then knit 4 rows without increasing the numberloops. In the next row, evenly add only 3 or 4 loops so that the bucket expands slightly and begins to resemble a real one in shape. Knit 5 more rows without increasing.Make a long chain of 33 chain stitches, attach it to the opposite edge of the bucket. As you can see, this is the loop of the bucket.And yet, the bucket doesn't quite look like a real one yet. We need to knit a rim around the bottom.Let's work on the legs.From cardboard you need to cut out feet proportional to the body (in your opinion). And then knit everything exactly the same. A chain of 3 loops in a closed ring - six columns in it - two loops in each interval - two turns, adding one additional loop in each sixth loop - 7 rows without adding. In the last row you need to decrease 2 or 3 loops (anywhere, it doesn't matter where). Now insert the cardboard footprints.Push the holofiber only onto one side of the cardboard, the other side - let it remain flat.Fold in half and knit the last row, catching two loops from opposite sides.Knit the second leg. Sew the legs to the body.The snowman needs handles.Start knitting with green yarn. The knitting pattern is the same. A chain of 3 loops in a ring - six columns in it - two loops in each gap. Then 5 rows of green yarn without adding loops.Next – with white yarn another 9 rows withoutadding loops, and the last two rows, knitting together each pair of loops. Stuff the arms with holofiber. It is convenient to use a wooden sushi stick for this. Knit the last loops together, cut the thread and pull it out. Knit the second arm.Sew the arms in place with white sewing thread.To create the illusion that our snowman is notnaked, but in clothes, we will knit him accessories: a belt and a bow tie. And we will secure all this with original knitted buttons. For the belt, create a chain of 50 air loops with green threads, knit one row loop in loop with single crochets. Then tie the green strap on all sides with single crochets with orange thread. For the bow tie, knit the same strap, but short, from 18 loops.To knit the buttons, again, knitchain of three air loops with green threads, then - in a ring - 6 single crochets. And tie in a circle with orange threads. Use the belt, bow tie and buttons to decorate the snowman. Fill the bucket with holofiber and sew it to the head.Something is missing. And what is missing is a smile! Using a red thread and a needle, "draw" a smile on our snowman. New Year is almost here!
