Textile envelopes for gifts lookvery beautiful and original. Especially if you decide to decorate them with various beads, ribbons, thread of a contrasting color. This lesson will show how to use an overlock or, if you don't have one, a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine. In order to make such an envelope, we needyou will need fabric, contrasting threads and an overlock (sewing machine). First, we need to cut out the fabric you have chosen. Envelopes of this kind are always made of four separate parts. This example is designed for the following dimensions: back and front panels - 35 by 25 cm, side inserts - 35 by 10. But you can make an envelope with dimensions that suit you.
Now thread your sewing machine or overlock with the thread you will be working with. You can also use metallic threads.
Connect your pieces so that the edges are on the outside. First, sew all the pieces (side pieces together with the front and back panels) along the sides.
Next, fold the side parts inside the envelope. The folds should go along the center of the parts. Secure all the parts with pins and overlock the bottom of the product, capturing all parts of the envelope.
You can try sewing similar envelopes fromfabrics of completely different textures and colors. They can be combined with each other. And finally, put the gift inside the envelope and fix the whole thing with ribbons or decorative threads.
