And they are a pleasure to make - simple and quick. I got this recipe from my old friend in my youth and I always remember her with gratitude when I bake gingerbread cookies. Let’s prepare all the ingredients:
- 1kg of flour,
- 1 kg of sugar,
- 4 eggs,
- milk 0.5 liters,
- vanillin or cinnamon,
- 1 tablespoon of soda or baking powder
- vinegar to quench soda.
Pour 3 cups of sugar into a large saucepan.Pour 2 cups of milk into a saucepan with sugar.Place the pan on low heat.Stir constantly to prevent burning.Bring the mixture to a boil until the sugar is completely dissolved. A high foam will rise.Add vanilla or cinnamon.Now let's start adding 3 cups of flour, stirring constantly.The dough turns out runny.We extinguish 1 tablespoon of soda with vinegar.Pour soda into the dough.Stir the dough. Cool.Beat 4 eggs into the dough.Add another 1 cup of flour.Mix the dough.Place a teaspoon of dough on a baking sheet lined with paper. Place the baking tray in the oven. Bake at 200 degrees for 30 minutes.The gingerbread has browned. You can remove it from the baking tray and put it in a large bowl. A large bowl, because there will be a lot of gingerbread.Let's start making the glaze for the gingerbread. To do this, prepare sugar and milk.Pour 2 cups of sugar into a large saucepan. Pour half a glass of milk into a saucepan with sugar. Put on low heat and cook, stirring, until the sugar is completely dissolved. To give it a brighter taste, I add a pinch of salt and vanillin to the syrup.Cook the syrup until it becomes foamy.And now the most important and interesting moment. We will pour hot syrup over the gingerbread and mix. Take a large wooden spoon and stir the gingerbread in the syrup, from the bottom up. It is important that all the gingerbread is coated with syrup while it is hot!
