Movable door of bars on hinges
Необыкновенную дверь из брусков создали дизайнеры by Matharoo Associates for the residence of an Indian diamond magnate. The design challenges our usual idea of a door as a vertical plane opening in one given direction.
In this unique project the door can be movedand twisted into a spiral, which is a bit like a draped curtain. Thanks to the technological features of the design, the wood really did look like fabric that can be thrown back like a curtain. The door is made of 40 individual blocks of solid Burmese teak, which can move independently of each other, for example, to open like a fan. The bars are attached to a steel cable, and the counterweight is hidden in the floor.
When closed, the door looks quiteordinary, except that it is massive, huge, with horizontally arranged bars. But you only have to push the door made of bars - and its contours will transform into a smooth curve, letting in sunlight and dear guests!
