A white background of napkins will make them elegant and suitable for serving a table for a holiday. The image will be placed in the corners, which means that it will not be closed by the cutlery and it will be visible throughout the feast.
Materials for serving napkins To embroider such a napkin we need the following materials and tools:
- A white cloth of Aida No. 14 for a napkin measuring 36x46 cm;
- Oblique white bake - length 1,7 m, width 2 cm;
- A needle for tapestries with a blunt end and a large eye;
- Hoop (optional);
- Sewing thread of white color;
- An ordinary needle;
- sewing machine;
- scheme.
Preparatory work
The first thing you need to do is mark the placeembroidery placement. To do this, you need to mark a rectangle along the larger side of the future napkin. The distance from the edge to the rectangle should be 4 cm, and the rectangle itself should be 18x9 cm in size and located exactly in the middle. You can use a running stitch for basting.
For ease of embroidery, you need to put a cross in the center of the rectangle itself, or stick a pin. An identical mark must be made on the diagram itself.
When looking at the diagrams, you need to take into account that each square on them is a separate cross. They are embroidered with floss thread in two folds.
The designation in the form of a straight line is a “back needle” seam. It is performed with a thread in one addition.
Steps of embroidering napkins Now you can start working on our napkin, the schemes of which are attached below.
The stages of work are as follows:
- Begin with the embroidery of the central leaf, for which the center was previously marked with a cross or a pin;
- Then embroider a branch and all other leaves, and only then go to the currant berries;
- When the berries are ready, they must be joined together with a suture "back needle". Thread color 3790/904, as indicated on the sketch;
- Since the product is made without a lining, the ends of the threads must be fixed under the crosses of the corresponding color.
Recommendations You can make a whole set ofNapkins. To do this, select pieces of cloth with a size of 40x40 cm. Embroider on each pattern, having deviated from the edge of 5 cm. When the embroidery is finished, the prepared napkin should be ironed from the wrong side. The edges of each product need to be rounded and sew a slanting white bake. To do this, using a pair of scissors, cut off all four corners of the napkin, attach a slanted beak and punch it with pins from the inside to prevent it from shifting. Thus, outlining the contour, you can attach the kick to the machine. The stitching should not be too close to the edge.
The edges of the binding are folded together, inserting oneedge to the other. Then the trim is turned over the face and secured with pins. The stitching must be applied very close to the inner edge, no more than 3 mm. That's all, a beautiful napkin with currant branches is ready!
