Tools and materials

So, to make a felt monkey bookmark we will need:

• cardboard (not tight);
• A simple pencil;
• line;
• scissors;
• sheet felt brown and beige;
• Threads of a mulina;
• sewing needle;
• A small piece of thin satin ribbon of red color.

Description of work

1.First, we need to make a cardboard base for our bookmark, which will give the product rigidity and allow it to retain the desired shape. Take cardboard, it should not be too thick, a cardboard sheet for children's creativity will work great in this case. Draw on it using a ruler, first a strip, approximately 2 cm wide and 10 cm long - this will be the monkey's body, and then draw paws on both sides. Also draw the head and muzzle separately. Cut out all the details along the contour using scissors.2.Next, using the cardboard base blanks as a template, we transfer the details onto brown felt, which we first need to fold in half to get two absolutely identical parts of the body and head, after which we cut everything out. We also cut out one part of the animal's muzzle from white felt.3.Now we take a needle with a single strand of brown thread and sew the muzzle to one of the head parts, using a regular “needle forward” stitch for this purpose, we try to make the stitches small and not too dense.4. Next, we embroider the eyes and nose of the animal on the face with black threads, and the mouth with red threads.5.After the toy's muzzle is finished, connect the front and back parts of the head and sew them together. Use a contrasting white thread and an overlock stitch for this. Try to make the stitches the same and small.6. We temporarily put the finished monkey head aside, and we begin making the main part of the bookmark - the body.7. Take both felt parts of the bookmark and place a cardboard base between them. If it turns out to be a bit large, you can carefully cut it along all edges.8.Then, armed with a sewing needle and a single strand of white thread, we sew both parts of the body together with the cardboard base between them. As in the case of sewing the head together, we use the same small overlock stitches.9. When the work on sewing the monkey's body is finished, sew the head to it with blind stitches, as shown in the photo below.10. To decorate our monkey, take a thin red satin ribbon, form a neat little bow out of it and sew it to the side of the animal’s head.eleven.All we have to do is make the tail, cut it out of the remains of brown felt, it is important that the tail is long enough and can peek out from the opposite side of the closed book.
