An original and simple master class for beginners to create soap in the form of roses with their own hands.

Soap making is the process of making soap from liquid (coffee, distilled water, milk, herbal infusions), oil and alkali. In addition, the following components are also used:

  • sea salt;
  • stearic acid (added for soap hardness);
  • natural (dry mustard powder, paprika,clay, cocoa, turmeric, coffee, parsley, honey, decoction of herbs, vanilla, etc.) and chemical (various food colorings, titanium dioxide, mica, etc.) dyes.

To add scent to handmade soapessential oils or synthetic fragrances, flavors and perfumes are used. To get a soap-scrub, ground bones, ground nuts, poppy seeds and oatmeal are added to the soap. In this master class, we will make soap in the form of a rose and, using it as an example, we will master the basics of soap making. A rose is a beautiful flower, but it is rarely possible to preserve it as a keepsake for a long time. Let's create our own rose, which will not only please us with its appearance, but can also last for some time and even bring pleasure while taking a bath or shower. Let's make a delicate rose from soap with our own hands, but first, let's talk about safety precautions. First, a little boring, but necessary (not only for beginners), introductory part. Safety precautions are needed for making soap, even if you are not making it for the first time, do not rely on “maybe” and “I am careful”, because... Working with alkali is dangerous, unless of course you follow safety precautions. What is soap making safety? It is a respirator, yes, a respirator, a medical mask is not that, it will not suit you, although some people use it, but I tried it once, I fed my earthenware friend all night. Construction glasses to protect the eyes, household gloves, not medical ones, since they can tear. Long-sleeved clothing. Vinegar to neutralize the alkali. This is if an alkaline solution gets on the body, pour vinegar over it to avoid a burn. Many, hearing about such clothing, are scared and think that it is scary and dangerous, but after getting dressed and removing the animals and children from the kitchen, as well as feeding the husband, you can safely proceed to making soap. But before that, we also study the soap calculator. In it, we simply enter grams (not ml) of the oil that we have and select the balance of oils, although to be honest, I don’t really like balanced soaps, because for the soap to be balanced, the calculator requires 60% solid oils, and then these soaps basically dry out the skin. Monosoaps, i.e. soaps with one oil, of course, are not balanced, but at the same time they are not the worst soaps, for example, Castile soap from 100% olive oil, which you can find in one of the master classes, is considered one of the best soaps. The calculator will give you how much water, how much alkali you will need. We also add water in grams and this is strict, no milliliters! The calculator will automatically calculate superfat of 5%. What is superfat? This is the part of the oils that does not react with alkali and is a skin care part. Water is taken from 28-38%. If you use castor oil in your recipe, then we reduce the % of water, since this oil softens soap very well. When taking a ready-made recipe, check the alkali and water on the calculator, for your own safety. If you decide to add citric acid to your soap (used for shampoo soaps), its input is 0.1-1% of the mass of all oils, then you should add 0.6 g of alkali for each gram of citric acid. For example, you cook on 500 g of oils, then the input of citric acid will be 0.5-5 g, then you still need to add 0.3-3 g of alkali to the total mass of alkali. Now we move directly to our rose.We make a soap-rose with our own hands. Photo №1To create something beautiful we need:

Photo №5Now let's use the container lids. Pour a layer of soap mass about 3-5 mm into each lid.We make a soap-rose with our own hands. Photo №6As usual, spray with alcohol to remove bubbles. Then our rose will be a nice natural pink color.We make a soap-rose with our own hands. Photo №7Let's wait a little until our layers harden. But in this case, you need to start working with them before they cool completely, literally while they are still “warm”. Carefully pull it out.We make a soap-rose with our own hands. We attach the next petal, while at the base of the petals we should press the soap base firmly so that our rose remains whole later, and does not fall apart into separate parts.We make a soap-rose with our own hands.
