An original master class on the creation of molds for roses from cold porcelain for beginners.

Master class for those who are just starting outmaster cold porcelain modeling. Below you will learn how to make molds for further creation of leaves and will find a small list of necessary tools for working with porcelain. I wish everyone success in their creativity! We make molds with our own hands. Photo №1 We make molds with our own hands. Photo # 2 We make molds with our own hands. Photo №5There are several ways to make molds that are not inferior to store-bought ones (because they are made in exactly the same way)! Materials:

  • a glass bottle (can be plastic hard),
  • petrolatum,
  • plasticine children's soft (you can put on batteries and it will be softer),
  • epoxy adhesive (90R.) (or epoxy resin with hardener in different bottles (sold in kilograms).

We don't need expensive clear epoxy, which is used in jewelry and other things, so I bought, on the advice of my friend, universal epoxy glue of the EDP brand, it is not expensive (90 rubles), and the amount of resin in one box is enough for 4-5 molds! Its only drawback is that it dries for a long time - because it is intended for gluing - but since we have an unlimited amount of hardener, as well as a large amount of resin, I had to wait a long time - complete drying takes, probably, a week plus another 3-4 days. The speed of hardening depends on the amount of hardener and the air temperature (you do not need to put it on a battery, otherwise the plasticine will melt and the print will not work), you can also add alcohol dyes there to give shades. We make molds with our own hands. Photo №6Roll the plasticine into a flat cake on glass or onthick oilcloth, lubricate with Vaseline and push out the desired petal by rolling with a bottle lubricated with Vaseline, make sure that everything is beautiful, the work is dirty, prepare yourself wet wipes for wiping your hands and the bottle! Then carefully make a border, I scraped with a knife moving it to the imprint. We remove the petal very carefully so that there are no extra notches from nails and fingers. We make molds with our own hands. Photo №7Prepare the epoxy according to the instructions in the unnecessaryplastic jar from food products, such as yogurt, with this plastic there will be no reaction of epoxy, the resin can be heated on the battery for pains of fluidity. We pour the finished composition into our form and wait - I waited 3-4 days! See the fingerprint? I checked - is it sticky - we wait further! We make molds with our own hands. Photo №8We tear off the plasticine, I also had to wash the mold with a brush, then wipe it with a damp cloth and wipe it with alcohol - degrease it! Dirty on the left - clean on the right! We make molds with our own hands. Photo Number 9 We make molds with our own hands. Picture №10Homemade mold Manufacturing:we stick transparent double-sided tape on a thick film (we put a printout of a leaf with veins under the film) and glue threads to this tape in the desired direction, the work is painstaking, but the result is not bad, you can take threads of different thicknesses and then the texture will be more natural, or something. After, you need to open this "mold" several times with varnish so that the tape stops sticking (I opened it 3 times). We make molds with our own hands. Photo number 15Mold made of corrugated paper, the imprint is obtainednot deep, but the petals will be more realistic, the only drawback is that the corrugation is slightly painted, it is better to mold with white corrugation (if there is such in nature, but if not, then in the color of the petals or light). We make molds with our own hands. Photo number 16Homemade molds from plaster and porcelain. We make molds with our own hands. Photo number 17Various things:1 – Stack-bamboo knitting needle (No. 4.5, length 20 cm) 2 – 2A – Smooth beads from needed and unnecessary beads (for rolling the edges of the petal) 3 – Stack-handle (metal) (for forming cores and rolling the edges of the petal) 4 – Cosmetic sponge (you can roll the edges on it and press the HF to the mold with it so that there are no fingerprints) 5 – Stacks for modeling (I use them to pry up the rolled petals) 6 – 6A – toothpick and skewer (gives texture to the petal) 7 – 7A - manicure gadgets (for adding texture to petals and leaves, as well as for making molds on foam) 8 - Disposable spoons (we dry petals in them to give them shape) 9 - Manicure scissors (we cut and trim edges and more)We make molds with our own hands. Photo Number 18Curly scissors: a very good thing, makes it easier to cut the edges of leaves (their price varies from 45 rubles to 120 rubles)We make molds with our own hands. Photo Number 19Knife cutters - knife (80r.) I chose it, I thought about it for a long time, how it would slide and cut in the right direction, but the pizza knife (70 rubles) is a good thing, but if the diameter is large, then it is not very convenient to work with small parts, and if the diameter is smaller, then it is more convenient, well, and a double knife (150 rubles) - wavy is also convenient for cutting out leaves, plus my purchase of a cutting mat (an expensive pleasure 230 rubles, size A4)We make molds with our own hands. Photo Number 21Greenery paint:I bought it for tinting water-based paint and experimented with painting samovar HF - I really liked the color - it looks so natural, just chic. The mass behaves the same way as when painting with oil paints, it dries faster and the elasticity decreases, but not by much. In the left corner, the leaf is already dry and the mass is fresh - the color, as you can see, is practically no different! We make molds with our own hands. Photo №28Foam balls - as a base forflowers! I bought a large bag at a florist's (size from 0.5 to 1 cm) - 80 rubles, and the "Fantasy World" balloons at craft stores - 52 rubles. We make molds with our own hands. Photo №29Set of cuttings for making flowers frommarzipan and mastic - I bought this thing at the "Formula of Handicrafts" exhibition for 650 rubles. These cutters are very suitable for us - one set for all occasions! I advise you to go to bakery shops - there are so many interesting things there! And cheaper than floral cutters! We make molds with our own hands. Picture №30Marzipan tools are dirt cheap - 150 rubles. Everything for a baker is sold in stores. We make molds with our own hands. Picture №31I would like to share some small nuances. So,First, find suitable leaves. I chose a hydrangea leaf, a foxglove leaf, a maiden grape leaf, a regular grape leaf (I don’t know the variety), and a rose leaf. I warmed up the plasticine a little in the microwave, rolled out pancakes with a rolling pin (through parchment), made prints, lifted them up, and greased the sides with Vaseline-based massage cream using a brush. Next, I prepared the glue according to the instructions (I bought 120 ml of glue). But before mixing it with the hardener, I put the jar of resin in warm water to liquefy it for a couple of minutes. I poured the glue into the molds. The layer thickness should be at least 3 mm. I left the molds with epoxy for 5-6 days. And now the hardest part is to remove the molds from the plasticine molds. Despite the Vaseline, the plasticine comes off reluctantly. At first I simply scraped off the plasticine, then dipped it in hot water and removed the heated plasticine from the mold with a dry cloth, then scraped the back of the mold with a knife, and then wiped the mold with alcohol. In short, there was a lot of fuss. But I am happy with the result. In future works I will show the practical application of molds. Here they are ready! From left to right: hydrangea, grapes, maiden grapes and foxglove. The dye from the plasticine migrated to the epoxy. We make molds with our own hands. Photo №32 We make molds with our own hands.
