Original interior items, the use of wine corks in the creation of various items, a bath mat made of cork.
The corks left over from wine bottles arean excellent material for creating all sorts of items. An unusual bath mat made with your own hands is a great example of this. Why for the bathroom? The answer will be the main advantage of this material. Cork practically does not absorb moisture, due to which bacteria do not multiply on its surface. This is why the material is ideal for any room with high humidity. Walking on such a surface is quite pleasant and very useful. To make a carpet from corks we will needa water-repellent material that will be used as a base (rubberized fabric, shower mat, etc.), a well-sharpened knife, coarse sandpaper, a cutting board, and most importantly - corks (there should be at least 150 of them). First, all the corks need to be washed in a soap solution to get rid of red wine stains. For a better result, you can soak them overnight in water with bleach. Finally, rinse and dry them well. Next, you need to cut each cork lengthwise into two parts. If the edges are uneven, rub them with sandpaper. For more convenient and safe work, it is better to cut the corks vertically.Decide on the dimensions of the future carpet.Place the prepared corks on the table in the same way you plan to place them on the mat. And in accordance with their size and shape, cut out a similar base from rubberized material. You can come up with any pattern you like. Place the corks in a zigzag, checkerboard pattern or in even rows. Now all the corks need to be glued to the base. Choose a special glue designed for such surfaces. Start gluing the corks first along the perimeter and only then fill the middle. Excess glue should be removed immediately with a rag. When this work is completely completed,Let the mat dry completely. For a better effect, treat it with additional sealant. If you plan to systematically use the cork mat in the bathroom, it will need to be dried periodically in the sun.Besides this, there is a second optionmaking a mat from corks. Prepare a box with low sides. In this case, you will need much more corks - at least 500 pieces. If the sides of the box are too high, you can saw off the excess. The height of the sides should correspond to the height of the corks. To create such a mat, you need to place all the corks inside the box in a vertical position. They should tightly fill the entire space. For strong fixation, you can use glue.
