Each of you has probably heard more than once about such a concept as "fabric painting", but immediately before your eyes appeared training courses that you must take in order to learn how to paint your things. Our article will teach you how you can do this without courses, super expensive paints and, moreover, at home. What will you need for this? It is worth saying that the items needed for painting in different methods are slightly different, but there are items that remain unchanged - paint and the thing itself that you would like to paint. The subject of painting can be not only clothes, but also a gloomy umbrella that you would like to decorate, bed linen that is too simple in your opinion, and so on. Today we will tell you about two techniques of applying paint to fabric, but in both techniques we will use acrylic paint, since it is quite durable and when it gets on your skin, both during painting and during use of the painted item, it will not harm your health. So, the first technique:

  • Acrylic paints;
  • Thinner paints (which you can also buy in any art shop);
  • Stencil;
  • Foam Sponge;
  • The fabric you will paint;
  • A piece of cardboard (as a stand for cloth)

The painting process itself is very simple.Even a beginner who has never held a can of paint in his hands can handle this task, but regardless of this, the drawing will look as if it was done for you by a fashion designer. If the thing is large, you can make not one large drawing, but several small identical or different ones, but in the same style and on the same theme. You choose the pattern only depending on your tastes and preferences. But it is worth saying that you do not need to immediately grab super complex combinations of colors and patterns, start with something simple. The algorithm of actions for painting using a stencil:

  • Choose a stencil, the shape that you like.
  • Cut out the picture.
  • Attach it to the fabric. You need to attach the stencil well, because if it falls off or moves during the process of applying paint, the drawing will be smudged or will not come out at all.
  • Take the sponge and dump it in the paint of the color that was chosen. We warn that the paint should not be too much, otherwise it can simply spread out through the fabric.
  • We apply the sponge to the stencil and “smear” it over the pattern cut out on it.
  • If you do not have one picture element, but severalidentical, for example three butterflies or five palms, then we repeat the algorithm. Note: if the patterns are the same shape, but different colors, the stencil needs another, (for each element), since the paint that remains from the previous figure can ruin all the work done.

    • Acrylic paints;
    • Brushes of different thicknesses, depending on the figure you selected;
    • Marker for fabric;
    • Pencil;
    • Thinner paint;
