Basic techniques for bead embroideryhave been used by needlewomen for a very long time and are not too complicated. It is enough to study the types of seams well and choose the most acceptable option for yourself. Beginner embroiderers are better off using the "Monastic" seam, which is one of the simplest. Bead embroidery is a fairly popular type of needlework. Many craftswomen use it to create paintings, as a decoration for clothes or household items. Finished products are a real masterpiece and an excellent gift for loved ones. For work you will need:
- beads (it is better if it will be the same size);
- the cloth;
- scissors;
- needles;
- thread, preferably synthetic, since it has good strength.
Most often, two techniques are used in this type of work, each of which has its own seams. The main techniques for embroidering patterns with beads include:
- ribbon or linear (monastic and vertical seams, seam forward needle);
- circular (line, stalked, arched stitches, stitching).
Linear embroidery Used to obtainpatterns. Which are applied in rows. The most commonly used is the "monastic stitch". From the wrong side of the fabric, the needle is inserted into the lower left corner of the cell, a bead is strung on the stretched thread, then the needle is inserted into the upper right corner of the cell. We embroider the entire row in a similar manner, securing the first and last beads by stitching them twice. We move on to the second row, performing the actions in reverse order - the needle is inserted into the upper right edge and pulled out from the lower left edge. We repeat the third row, like the first.Vertical seam No less simple than“monastic”. We start work from the upper left corner, alternating the direction - top-bottom and vice versa. The direction of the needle with the thread can be seen in the diagram below.
Forward needle stitch Maximumsimple – insert the needle into the fabric, pull the thread through, string a bead, insert the needle again into the fabric (very close to the bead), make a small stitch on the back side. Then pull the thread out again and repeat the steps.
Circular embroidery This technique of bead embroideryis performed in a spiral, a circle, from which it got its name. The diameter of the circle gradually increases in the process of work. When the diameter reaches the edge of the canvas, there are places on it that are not filled with beads. You should switch to semi-bent seams. The best option for this purpose is the "arched seam". In a circle, they embroider with a "stem" or "line" seam. The densest of all known seams is the "stem", since the beads in a row are sewn on with a double thread. The essence is as follows: a bead is strung on a fixed thread, the needle is inserted into the work and pulled out behind the sewn bead, the thread is inserted into the same bead again and only then the next one is strung. We repeat this until the end of the row. In the photo below you can see the embroidery patterns for all the listed seams.
All existing seams are not complicated.Each needlewoman chooses for herself the option from the basic techniques of bead embroidery that is most convenient for her personally and the technique that is best suited for a particular product, painting, decoration. A little patience and desire to learn, as well as following the basic rules established for this type of needlework, and a wonderful product will be ready. The result will exceed all your expectations.
