We remember the school. Classical pattern of school dress for our young student. Photos and instructions
School dresses are a separate storyUSSR. In those days, all girls were required to wear a uniform to school, which they usually sewed themselves, because it was much cheaper. Today, all school graduates always wear school dresses with white aprons for the last bell. Materials for sewing. The fabric called "Pikachu" (100% polyester) 3.5 m with a width of 1.5 m is ideal. There was another fabric option, gabardine, but it is denser and not very pleasant to the touch and to the body. Try to find a lightweight fabric, since May can be especially hot. Pay all your attention to this issue, because it depends only on you whether your daughter will be comfortable and convenient in a dress for the last bell. All the sewing instructions below are given for a girl who wears size 44. First, you should check the finished patterns.
Now you need to determine the length of the future skirt. To do this, you can attach the pattern to the right side, and put the apron pattern on the left. The apron is 43 centimeters long, so the skirt should be a little longer. If the girl does not like to wear short clothes, then the dress can be lengthened. The optimal length is 50 centimeters. Now you need to correctly construct the sleeve length. Consider a model of a dress with a short sleeve (approximate length 25 centimeters). At this stage, you should take measurements of the arm circumference and compare it with the pattern along the short sleeve line. For example, the girl's arm circumference is 26 centimeters, and on the pattern it is 33 centimeters. This means that the sleeve will be loose. You can put additional marks on the shelf so that everything matches perfectly when sewing. And only after that, you can cut the shelf, since there will be a relief line here.
Now let's move on to constructing the collar. If you want the collar to always be buttoned, then you don’t need to change anything on the front pattern. If you want there to be a top button that can be unbuttoned, then draw a facing on the front. If you decide to make a stand-up collar, then you will also need a facing. Advice. The facing can be drawn on the back. Let’s start cutting. Don’t forget to make seam allowances, so put the necessary marks in advance, lengthen the skirt to the required length. Make a hem allowance along the bottom of the sleeve. In order to sew the skirt, you will need to cut out two pieces the entire width of the fabric. You can make a pleated skirt. The bottom of the sleeve and collar should be glued with interlining.
Now we move on to sewing the product itself from the cut out parts.
Advice. You can cut off the entire allowance that you made when cutting along the neckline, and you can cut off much more along the front. You can also rip open half the shoulder and free the facing, since when sewing the collar on the stand, the facing was stitched into the shoulder. We combine the marks along the neckline: the middle of the collar with the middle of the back, and we combine the mark of the middle of the front part with the edge of the collar. We sew in the collar according to the following options: we sew in at the same time; first we sew in one, and then the other. We check the corners so that everything is even and matches. Special notches should be made along the neckline. In order for everything to be neat on the wrong side, you can process the neckline and facing in two ways:
- The seam stitching the collar is overridden, and afterwards we sew the bottom to the shoulder.
- The neckline of the backrest is processed at the same time with the podbortom.
Let's get to work on assembling the skirt. The darts on the back should be ironed closer to the middle. Then, distribute the folds evenly and stitch the back of the skirt. On the shelf, align the strip and pin it with needles. Put a mark on the middle of the strip, and then push off from this notch, distributing the folds on the front half of the skirt. How to make folds correctly?
When the folds are already evenly distributed,it is necessary to stitch the side seam. We bend the bottom of the sleeves to the required length and stitch. We bend the bottom of the skirt to the required length and also stitch. We sew on buttons, having previously made loops. We decorate the dress with cuffs and a collar. A white lace apron will add a special effect.
The dress for my beloved daughter-graduate is ready! Now it should be ironed well and can be worn for the last bell.
