Plate, hand-painted with lace patterns, for a gift to my grandmother - detailed instructions with step-by-step photos of the process
This will be a really nice gift forGrandmas - a decorative plate, hand-painted. Grandmas usually appreciate your attention like no one else. Anyone can paint a plate or other object using stencils. Such dishes can be placed on the kitchen shelf - and show off to guests. For this project you will need:• Glass and ceramic paint in several colors • Lace stencils on an adhesive base • Sponge • Ceramic or glass plate without a pattern
Step by step Step 1 Prepare the surface,by washing your plate with detergent and removing the price tag marks with rubbing alcohol. Make sure it is completely dry. The cleaner the plate, the better the pattern will adhere. Step 2Remove the stencil from the backing and position it on your plate, then press it down to secure it to the surface.
Step 3:Dip the sponge into the paint, blot off any excess – and go over the stencil with light movements. It is important not to press the tip of the sponge too hard, as this can cause bubbles in the paint and affect the result. Just tap the stencil lightly.
The gradient effect can be created usingseveral adjacent shades of paint. To do this, paint one part of the stencil with one color, continue working with another, slightly overlapping the previous one so that at the intermediate stage the two colors mix. It turns out a very beautiful effect. Do not stretch the work for a long time, otherwise the paint will begin to dry - and it will be difficult to remove the stencil from the plate. So you need to remove it before the paint dries.
Rinse the stencil with water immediately so that it can beused in the future. If you make any mistakes or smear the paint while working, simply wipe it off with a damp paper towel and start over. To create a multi-layered pattern, you can apply several patterns on top. But to avoid damaging the previous one, you can apply the next pattern only after the paint has dried, that is, after 24 hours. You can speed up the drying process by placing the product in the oven for half an hour to an hour. Make sure that the paint does not bake or change its color. Be very careful when applying adhesive stencils on top of the paint - they can damage even dried paint. Here is a photo of a multi-layered pattern:
Please note that the paint may not be food grade, so it is better not to eat from hand-painted dishes, but to use it to decorate kitchen shelves or a holiday table.
