Not all knitted items need to have a bottomdecorated with an elastic band. In such cases, you want to find a pattern that would not only look beautiful inside the item, but also design the edge in an original and logical way. A wavy knitting pattern is ideal for such products. In fact, there are many variations of waves; let’s look at the drawing in detail, and several more schemes with similar openwork.

Relief Wave

This delicate ornament is ideal forAny product: from stole to cardigan. Most effectively, such waves "fall" from mohair yarn. The thing turns out very warm, but weightless and airy. Also, knitting can be done from any thin or medium thickness of the thread, for example, cotton or half wool.

To delicate patterns read more clearly, you can take the needles one-and-a-half the size of what is recommended for the selected yarn.
Rapport is the number of loops that is a multiple of 11+ 2 edges, 14 rows high. For the sample, we will cast on 24 loops on the knitting needles. In the first, and in all subsequent rows, we knit the first edge knit, the last one purl. Next, two loops (further in the text the designation P is introduced) together behind the back wall, or with an inclination to the left side, then there are 3 front loops (further designated LP), yarn over (further designated N), 1 LP, N, again 3 LP , the rapport is completed by two Ps together behind the front wall, that is, with an inclination to the right side.

This is what rapport looks like.

Continue knitting rapport first with two P with a slope to the left and continue in the same way to the edgeband. The second knit with the wrong loops (symbol PI).

We knit R 3, 5, 7, 9 in the same way as the first. R 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 as the second. In the eleventh row, after the front edge, we knit only IP. 12 R – only medicinal products. 13 R – IP. 14 R – LP.

We continue the drawing from the first P, alternating openwork and relief elements.

Two-color waves with loops

This wavy pattern can be made with knitting needles of the same color, but more effectively it looks from yarn of contrasting colors.

The rapport consists of 10 loops + 6 for the symmetry of the pattern + 2 edges. In order to get a sample, we will dial 28 loops.

Performing any patterns, it is recommended to startFrom the sample to correctly calculate the number of loops and see how the ornament will look in the finished product. In the first R. we will bind P faceplates. In the same way we will bind the second R.

In the third R.we knit: remove the edge, then 6 LP, N, LP, now two yarn overs, again LP, 3 yarn overs, LP, 2 N, LP, N, LP, 5 LP. In the fourth R. we will knit only the LP, bypassing the yarn overs, that is, we insert the knitting needle only into the loops of the previous row. At the same time, we also lower the yarn overs from the knitting needle.

When we stretch the fabric a little, we get this wave. The fifth and sixth R. again LP. We switch to a thread of a contrasting color, or continue knitting with the same yarn. Let's knit two rows of LP.

And now we repeat the third and fourth R.

Wavy patterns

I propose some more schemes on which the openwork waves are shown. So, the scheme 1:

This is a very simple ornament, which even beginner needlewomen can perform. The rapport of this wave is thirteen loops and six rows in height:

1 P - At the beginning of the first P. We do a broach (hereinafter we introduce the notation of the prostate), now nine LPs, and two II simultaneously. When we are tying two eyelets together in each row one above the other, the product begins to acquire the desired "wavy" relief;
2 R - PI;
3 P - We start again from the broach, then 7 LP, two at the same time LP;
4 R - IP;
5 Р - ПЖ, after alternating ЛП and Н, at the end of rapport again we knit two together ЛП;
6 Р - we finish the rapport of the drawing next to the LP. Continue to follow the pattern, from the very beginning, to the desired height.

The next pattern is fantasy; the pattern for this interesting ornament is a little more complicated. To avoid confusion, let's look at it in more detail. So, scheme 2:

1-4 Р - we knit the LP;
5 Р - begin R. With LP, after we make H, after 3 LP, three P vm. (We remove 2 П on the right knitting needle, we leave a thread behind a cloth, third Вяжем ЛП, and we "throw" the first two П on the knitted), again we will make 3 LP, N, we finish LP;

Another scheme to a very original wavy pattern. Such openwork patterns decorate any product.

I would like to note that each of the proposedornaments can be knitted on circular knitting needles, respectively, in a circle. For this type of work, read the diagram in one direction only, from right to left. In a circle with such waves you can make a hat, pencil skirt, dress and other products that can be knitted without seams according to pattern 3:
