The solution is simple - make a bright curtain for the kitchen with your own hands. Such a product will not only cost you absolutely free, but will also fit perfectly into the interior, since when making you will already know all the initial data of your kitchen and act accordingly. Therefore, use the idea we offer below, and incredibly popular in 2014, and sew a beautiful decoration for your apartment. The proposed option will look gorgeous both closed and unfolded. All calculations are given for one panel. But you can easily make the number of curtains you need yourself based on the height of the curtains and the size of your window. You will learn how to make the calculations below.
For the production of bright curtains for the kitchen you will need:
First, let's take measurements:To do this, we will make simple calculations. Each window may have its own parameters, so we will show you a typical example of calculation, focusing on which and substituting your own figures, you will be able to calculate your specific situation.
Full height of curtain From curtain to floor heightcame out 215 cm. Subtract a few centimeters from this figure. This is necessary so that the curtain does not drag on the floor and does not get dirty. As a result, we get - 210 cm. Loops Standard loop sizes are 6 cm. from the edge of the curtain to the curtain rod. Height To determine the final height, simply subtract the loop sizes. You will get 210 cm. - 6 cm. 204 cm. Length of the upper part fabric Our curtains consist of several parts. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the length of each. The upper part should be approximately one fifth of the entire length. Approximately 40 cm. Decorative frill There is also a dividing strip of fabric between the lower and upper parts. But it is sewn in, so it can be ignored in the final length of the product Lower part Bottom - this is the rest of the length 204 - 40 = 164 cm. Allowances It is also necessary to add for the hem at the top and bottom. Be sure not to forget the allowances for the seams between the parts. Loops All loops are folded in half, so 6 cm is half their size. We also add here the places where the buttons are attached - approximately 5 cm. And we leave 1 cm for allowances. In total, there are 17 cm for loops. In the same way, you can simply calculate the parameters you need for your case by simply substituting your data. Then we proceed directly to sewing. First, we prepare 6 loops. Fold them in half and pin the loops so that the wrong side is up. Use a straight seam and do not forget about the allowance of 1 cm. Sew all the edges starting from the smallest and secure the corners. Now you can turn it inside out and iron it. Then we lay another line on top.
The next step is to connect the frills of the products. To do this, fold the frill in half so that the wrong side is up. Pin it along the edge of the bottom part that is unprocessed. And sew it with a hand stitch to the top.
Without forgetting about the seam allowance, we stitch to the restthe top part of the product. Then iron it all. Only after that do we sew the seam along the top of the future curtain. Then we move on to the bottom edge. First, we make a double fold of the bottom part. Then we fold it by 10 cm and iron it, then fold it again, this time by 10 cm, and iron it again. The line must be laid as close to the bend as possible.
Next, we do the same with the lining. The next step will be to sew the lining and curtain along the perimeter. To do this, we place our curtain face up, and place the lining on top of it, only now face down.
The edges must match, only the length of the lining should be 12 cm shorter, as shown in the diagram below.
Then you will need to attach the loops and stitch them.them along the top edge of the curtain. To do this, we put our loops between the lining and the curtain. We align the edges. The distance between the loops should be 14 cm. Do not forget that if you use your own measurements, you may get other distances.
We continue stitching, keeping in mind the 1 cm allowances.
The next step is to attach the top tape. It is necessary so that it does not sag between the loops. We put our tape up with the front side and pin it with the curtain, naturally taking into account the allowance.
Next, we need to turn and secure our loops. To do this, turn the product right side up. All seams should remain inside.
Then we carefully pull out the loops and bend them towardsthe front side of the curtain in half. Pierce, decorate, previously prepared buttons using a sewing machine or manually lay the seam. In the corner of the product there should be an unfinished edge. Fold it. With small stitches, using threads in the same tone as the rest of the curtain, sew the frill to the fabric.
The final stage is gartering. They must be reinforced with several centimeters of connective tissue. Take 50 by 5 strips. Then pin and sew squares with parameters 12 by 12 cm. The front sides of the squares should match on the sides of the garter. Fold the resulting garter in half. Adjust the connective tissue.
We stitch, leaving an empty edge for turning inside out.We fix the corners. Turn it inside out, having previously adjusted the edges. We also process the end that remains and lay the front seam. We fold our squares in half and, having put a line, we put the rings through.
Don't forget to sew decorative buttons on each detail.
