Let's say you need to get a new outfit, and urgently. The reasons can be very different, so we will not take them into account. There is simply no money for a new outfit, which means you need to take control of the situation and try to create an outfit with your own hands and completely free of charge. The well-known movie "Gone with the Wind" comes to mind, where the main character, for lack of the opportunity to buy a new dress, but with a great desire to impress a successful and rich lady, sews a luxurious dress from old curtains and still achieves the desired effect. Let's try to follow her example and create something special from what is in the bins of our apartment or wardrobe. If you are a thrifty housewife and have unclaimed pieces of fabric in your supplies, then the task is easier. If you don't have such reserves, you should review your old wardrobe and, having combined several things, implement the planned idea. So, it's decided, we sew a dress from what we have, thinking through in the process of making a new outfit, how we will decorate it. Perhaps, it will be necessary to hide certain defects with some designer tricks and give your dress a marketable appearance. Simply put, the manifestation of ingenuity and a creative approach in this situation is very welcome. To begin with, you need to take the necessary measurements, by which you will be guided when cutting out the style of the dress. Naturally, for this you will need a tailor's tape measure. We also find newspapers that are suitable for creating patterns. It would be desirable that with all your desire to create a new dress with your own hands, you have a sewing machine in your house, although, of course, you can do with hand stitches, provided that you can make them even. In this example, we will use the simplest model, which will be, so to speak, experimental. The fabric for it should not be too dense, but silk and chiffon for the first products of an inexperienced dressmaker are also not suitable. All possible defects are too visible on these materials, which is clearly not suitable for us. For this dress model, we will not need special measurements. Therefore, we draw a pattern of two rectangles. In the photo, they are drawn with standard sizes, but you can change the base in width and length at your discretion. The large rectangle is the base of the dress, the small one is the sleeve. Now put the pattern on the fabric, outline with chalk or soap and carefully cut out. You should get four parts. Two for the dress itself and, accordingly, two for the sleeves.Now we need to make the armholes.To do this, take the pattern paper again and make another rectangle, the width of which will be 7 cm, and the length - 25 cm. Round the edge a little to get the same result as in the photo. Now apply to the fabric and form armholes on each piece.Now you need to baste the side seams with brightthreads, which you will later use to sew seams on the machine. The next step is to sew the sleeves to the dress along the armhole line. Our dress will be held on the shoulders by an elastic band. To do this, you need to bend the neckline back about 2 cm and sew so that you can thread the elastic through.At the end of the work, you need to process the edges on the sleeves.and the hem of the dress. So, this option is suitable for any novice dressmaker, and by decorating such an outfit with a beautiful belt or strap or sewing on available beads, you can decorate it to your taste.
