How often do we face the problem of choice?a gift for a loved one. After all, you really want to give something necessary, useful and original. In this article, we will try to combine two old sayings: "A gift made with your own hands is the best" and "A book is the best gift". You should get a very original present from a book, and most importantly - useful and functional. In the course of your work, the book should turn into an original hiding place, where you can always hide something. And if you additionally decorate the cover, you can get an original element that will serve as an additional decoration for your interior. In addition, such a souvenir does not require any costs.
To complete this task, prepare a book.of a suitable size, PVA glue, water, scissors, a knife, a brush, a ruler, a pencil, a needle and thread, thick fabric (suede or leatherette), ribbons, a clasp and a small container. The first thing you need to do is choose a suitable book. As you understand, it should not be of great value to you. Find one with a strong and hard cover, and the book itself is thick. If you do not plan to decorate the binding, choose a cover that is as inconspicuous as possible, since it will not attract additional attention. Naturally, this is more of a joke souvenir, but, nevertheless, it will be fun and interesting to receive it. So, rummage through the closet or in a second-hand store and choose a book with yellowed pages that will give the gift more charm and originality. Dilute PVA glue with water. The proportion of glue to liquid is approximately 1:2 or 1:3. The mixture will become more watery and the pages will be better saturated with it. Wet the brush in the glue solution and coat the inside of the back cover. Apply the last sheet to its surface. Make sure that it lies as smoothly as possible and that there are no air bubbles. You can use a ruler to remove them.
Glue all the rest in the same waypages, leaving a small part of them on top. The sheets that are not glued will serve as a cover for the hiding place. It is enough to apply glue only along the perimeter of the pages (2-3 cm deep on each side). Of course, this activity is a bit boring, you can stretch it out over a couple of evenings, combining it with watching your favorite movie. When all the work is ready and all the necessary pages are glued, put some heavy object on top for greater effect. But before this, it is better to cover the book with an old newspaper so as not to spoil the cover.
When the book is dry, mark it. Draw straight lines, stepping back about 3 cm from the edge.
Using a craft knife, cut the pages along the drawn lines.
To make the cuts more even, use a ruler. Then coat the edges of the "pocket" with glue solution. This will make them smoother.
Use the nearest free page to hide the glued edges. Make diagonal cuts on it and bend it to hide the untidy walls.

They will look very beautiful. Sew a metal button onto one end of the suede strip. Sew the other part of the button to the front side of the cover.
