A table or a toy? Marbelous from Ontwerpduo
The world of furniture for adults and the world of toys for children, seem to be incompatible. But we all remember how exciting it was in childhood to combine these two worlds, to make houses out of chairs and fortresses out of tables. I used my grandmother's carved furniture as a fairyland for my dolls. It was with this thought and feeling that the designers created a new piece of furniture, for children and adults at the same time.An ordinary maple dining table features extraordinary carvings on both the top and the legs with a central crossbar. You can play with this decorative ornament!Small metal balls includedtogether with the table and are stored under the tabletop in a wooden chest. Launching them along the surface of the table into the carving, you can watch how they go through many labyrinths, bends and spirals on their way down. This original table won several nominations in design competitions in 2008 and became an excellent example of a harmonious combination of playfulness and seriousness, adult and childish.
