This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band

In this MK I want to offer to easily sew functional pants for a boy. Such a product, depending on the chosen fabric, can be worn at home, on the street or used as pajamas.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo №1Rice.1 There is a lot of information on sewing children's pants on various resources, and this option seems the simplest. Since it is already getting cold, I decided to make warm pants. To make pants you will need:

  • terry cloth;
  • ribbed fabric in the same color as terry cloth;
  • scissors;
  • elastic band 2-3 cm wide;
  • thread in the color of the fabric;
  • The threads are bright, very different from the color of the fabric (to make a note and easily remove it);
  • paper for the pattern.

To create a pattern, take your pantschild and trace along a straight line on paper where the pattern will be built. Add 1 cm to those lines on all sides and cut out. I skip this step and immediately cut out on the fabric. You get one piece for two legs, back and front.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo # 2Fig. 2 Sew all four identical parts together.Fold the pieces so that the pattern or the right side of the fabric faces inward when sewing. If you are using terry cloth, make sure that the terry cloth hairs on all the cut out pieces of the pants face the same direction. If the pile is in different directions, the product will not look nice. Now let's start working on the bottom of the pants. Stores usually sell these pants without elastic at the bottom. I sew these pants for pajamas. And when the child sleeps, he, of course, turns in different directions, and pants without elastic at the bottom of the legs rise to the knee. Therefore, I decided that elastic is the best way to avoid this. Take the ribbed fabric and measure along the bottom edge of the leg, stretching the fabric well. If the elastic is the right size, it will not hold. As a result, the fabric will be slightly larger than the leg folded in half.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. I did this on an overlock, if not, you can simply sew with a zigzag stitch.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo №7Rice.7 You need to do the same with the second leg, starting from Fig. 3 to Fig. 7. For convenience, measure out two identical pieces of elastic at once. I took one 10 cm wide. After I rolled the elastic, the finished width of the elastic was 5 cm. After you finish with the bottom, it should look like this.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo №8Fig. 8 Turn the pants inside out. Let's see what we get.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo Number 9Fig. 9 We are done with the lower part of the pants.Now let's start finishing the belt. Measure the fabric rib along the top edge of the pants, stretching the elastic well. It should look like this. The elastic should be a little longer than the pants folded in half.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo number 12Rice.12 This time we do not fold it in half, as in the lower part, but sew only one side of the elastic with bright threads. For a good distribution of the elastic, mark four identical sections with chalk so that the marked parts of the elastic coincide with each of the seams on the pants.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo Number 14Rice.14 What we have stitched - we turn it right side out and see how it turned out. The remaining unsewn edge of the elastic band needs to be folded in half, and the second edge of the unsewn elastic band should look at the wrong side. From the wrong side, the raw side of the elastic band needs to be folded again and basted with bright threads. The basted elastic band on the waistband should look like this. Let's see what should turn out on the right side. We leave a small unsewn space on the side of the pants. We turn our pants right side out and stitch 1 mm below our elastic band, from the wrong side the seam should go right along the very edge of the elastic band.This article tells how to sew warm and comfortable pants for a boy on an elastic band. Photo number 15Rice.15 We left the unsewn edge of the elastic - the rib. We will insert a 2-3 cm wide elastic there. I have 3 cm, you can take the one you like best. Measure the elastic along your child's tummy so that it does not press and is not too loose. We hook a large pin onto one end of the elastic and thread it through the entire belt, making sure that the elastic does not twist while pulling it through. Sew both ends of the elastic and sew up the previously left gap of the elastic-rib. After we have sewn everything, removed the basting, inserted the elastic and sewed up the last section under the elastic, we should get such simple and very comfortable pants! My child really loves these pants, they are loose and very pleasant for the body. Thank you all very much for your attention.
