This master class will teach you how to make your own handiwork from papier-mache
For such fun creativity we need:a container with water, PVA glue, old newspapers, paper (preferably not very thick types of paper - it should be easy to soak) and dishes that we want to copy in paper form. I almost forgot - you also need a couple of mischievous children's hands (or more) and a lot of fun.Regarding the packaging that we want to copy.I prefer to take plastic dishes with smooth walls. If the walls are shaped, it will be difficult to remove the dried paper copy. Therefore, we take something simpler – containers and bowls. To begin with, we tear newspapers or other paper into pieces (the pieces are all different – both large and small) and soak them in a bowl of water.
Next we “glue” the already soaked onespieces on the surface of the bowl, which we want to replicate in paper. The girls and I glued in 1-2 layers - basically, as it turns out. We glue newspapers as the first layer, because they soak off easier and stick well - ideally fit the shape of our bowl.
Next, we diluted PVA glue in the same water, that is, poured it into a bowl of water. My little daughter stirred it thoroughly (I noticed that children generally like to mix things).
Now we tear paper into this mixture again. Here we have already taken a regular white snow maiden, so that the outer side of our bowl is white - it is easier to paint it after drying.
Now you can go beyond 1-2 layers and glue all 4-5 layers of paper. This way, the walls and bottom will be thicker and won't break for a long time.
Now this is a miracle construction made from a bowl andWe send the paper stuck to it to dry. I usually put it under the radiator. For about 14-16 hours - until it dries completely. Then - everything is even more interesting. After drying, you need to try to carefully separate the bowl from the finished paper product. There is no need to hurry here, it is better to try to separate it without damaging the bowls. Not without effort, of course, but it usually works.
And now it's time for paints and brushes andfull creative freedom. I always give the finished paper dishes to the kids to tear apart – they draw whatever they want and however they want. This way, we always get beautiful and original products. You can play with such dishes, use them for decoration or store some little things in them.
