Right in the center of Rome, just a few steps awayIn St. Peter's Square, there is an unusual home that claims to be the "smallest apartment in Italy." The building it is located in used to belong to the Abbey of St. Peter, but since the 1930s, the house has changed hands and gradually fallen into disrepair. Architect Marco Pierazzi bought the small apartment in this building in 2010. The building, built in the 1700s, was in terrible condition: the wooden beams were rotten, the plaster was peeling off the walls, and the ceiling and floor were covered in mold. It took a lot of time and resources to completely renovate the smallest apartment, which is only 7 square meters!

Although the smallest apartment is 4 meters long and less than an adult's arm span wide, this space has everything you need for life - from the living room to the bathroom. However, the room has an important advantage - a very high ceiling, which allowed the sleeping area to be moved to the second level.
On the first level there is a kitchen where there is everythingThe necessary equipment is a stove, a hood, a sink, a refrigerator, cabinets and shelves for storing dishes and food. A folding table is mounted on the opposite wall, which can accommodate 3-4 people. When the table is not in use, it can be lowered, freeing up space in front of the stairs. A storage cabinet is located under the stairs.

The stairs are closed with a hatch at the top, thus increasing the useful area of the sleeping area and ensuring the safety of those upstairs.
