The smallest apartment in Italy with an area of 7 sq.m.
Right in the center of Rome, just a few steps fromSt. Peter's Square, there is an unusual dwelling claiming to be the "smallest apartment in Italy". The house in which it is, formerly belonged to the abbey of St. Peter, but from the 1930s the house passed from one owner to another and gradually fell into decay. Architect Marco Pirazzi (Marco Pierazzi) bought a small apartment in this building in 2010. The building built in the 1700s was in a terrible state: the wooden beams rotted, the plaster fell off the walls, and the ceiling and the floor were covered with mold. It took a lot of time and resources to overhaul the smallest apartment with an area of only 7 square meters! It would seem that it can fit inlimited area? Although the length of the smallest apartment is 4 meters, and in width - less than the scope of the adult's hands, this room has everything you need for living - from the living room to the bath. True, the room has an important advantage - a very high ceiling, which allowed to take the sleeping area to the second level.
On the first level is the kitchen, where there is everythingnecessary - stove, hood, sink, refrigerator, cabinets and shelves for storing dishes and food. On the opposite wall is attached a folding table, behind which can fit 3-4 people. When the table is not in use, it can be lowered, releasing the space in front of the stairs. The closet for things is located under the stairs.
The recreation area is located on the second levelapartments, where you can get on the stairs. From above, the staircase is closed by a hatchway, thus increasing the useful area of the sleeping area and ensuring the safety of those at the top. Otherwise, there is a risk of slipping down the stairs, rising at night from the bed.
The recreation area can serve as a bedroom, orliving room. The wall has an LCD TV and stereo system, and the sofa bed is easy to fold and unfold. The interior design of the upper level is made in light colors, using natural materials - wood and decorative bricks, which makes the room very cozy and warm. Chromed railings echo with the metal parts of the kitchen below, combining both spaces.
The bathroom is equipped with a shower cubicle, a washbasin, a toilet and a closet for storing washbasins and towels.
The smallest apartment is located on the firstfloor and opens directly onto a paved street. The entrance is hung from the inside with gray curtains. The entrance door itself - of modern design, stands out against the backdrop of an old building. The reliability and durability of the front door is relevant not only for Italy.
