Bente Hovendal is a Dutch artist anda designer who creates a unique wooden furniture chainsaw. In the work she uses local tree species, trying to perfectly understand their texture and physical shape. As the main tool Bente chose a chainsaw, with which she creates original and unique furniture masterpieces. Here is how the artist describes the creative process: "I wear protective clothing, goggles, gloves and windbreaker. I act with hardness on softwood and allow myself to plunge into the power, accuracy and sound of the instrument. All my senses are sharpened and my attention is at the limit of possibilities. The interaction of the saw with natural materials reminds me of my mission and the desire to create another sculptural design for furniture. " As a result of this thinking and action, the chainsaw furniture appeared - tables, stools and shelves called woodnwonder, which can literally be translated as "a tree and a miracle, surprise, amazement." The collection of furniture is strong andfunctionality, at the same time in its design remain elements of the original life of the tree. Unlike standardized "glossy" production, in these interior objects any imperfections of wood are deliberately underlined. Cracks, traces of vital activity of beetles and annual rings are perfectly visible on the surface, which adds even more depth to the texture of the tree. A common feature of the woodnwonder series is the unusualtreatment of the legs of the table and stools. It seems that from a dozen wooden pancakes irregular shape was put in an inaccurate pile and she was about to collapse. In fact, this form is cut from the integral part of the tree trunk and is very stable. I do not know how such a chainsaw furniture will look in the interior of an office or a city apartment, but here for a summer cottage and a country house is what you need!
