Napkin Flower. The work of Tatyana Rodionova
Napkin «Flower».Long/Tunisian crochet. The idea for this napkin was suggested by a picture from a patchwork magazine; the option of using multi-colored balls fit well on it; the fabric of this napkin is made up of multi-colored rhombuses made with a simple braided pattern of threads of the same thickness. In the 1st row all the rhombuses are the same, in the second there are double rhombuses, in the third there are two types of rhombuses. Using the proposed option and diagrams, you can increase the size of the flower (the number of tiers of diamonds) to the desired size. To prevent the edge of the fabric from curling, rows of corner fabric made from single crochets were used to decorate the edge. When knitting small fabrics, instead of a long hook, it is convenient to use, as in this product, a regular short hook. For the work we used: single-color thread Vizantia “legend” and sectional dyeing thread: Vizantia “legend print”, 100% acrylic 250m/50g, total about 100g, hook 2.0, napkin diameter 32cm. Description of the napkin: For the first diamond, cast on 12 ch. (black color in the diagram), from each loop of the chain, starting from the second from the hook, pull out a loop and leave them on the hook (the hook will have as many loops as there were in the chain), without turning the work, knit all the cast-on loops in sequence, first once the last loop cast on, then two loops at a time until one loop remains on the hook, which is also the starting loop of the next row. To get a diamond, you need to add one loop at the beginning of the row, subtract one loop at the end of the row, to add 1 loop after the edge pull the thread from the horizontal loop, then cast on as usual. Closing the cast-on row, knit an edge loop, then three loops together (a loop on the hook and two cast-on stitches), then two at a time, the total number of loops will not change. In the next row, add 1 stitch at the beginning of the row when casting on and decrease when casting off the row. Knit 8 rows of diamond. The last row of fabric in Tunisian knitting turns out to be loose; to secure the edge, after the fabric of the required size is knitted, it is necessary to make the final row of connecting posts.
For the second diamond (red color in the diagram)cast on 12 stitches along the inclined edge of the first diamond, closing the cast-on row, knit an edge loop, then three loops together, then two at a time, etc. according to the scheme. The third (blue color) and subsequent diamonds are knitted as the second, for a total of eight diamonds. Break the thread, leaving a long end, with which you sew the edge of the eighth diamond to the first, closing the flower. For the second row of diamonds, cast on 12 stitches from a thread of a new color (pink in the photo, black in the diagram) along the side of the connecting posts of the diamond of the first row, cast on another 12 loops along the inclined edge of the next diamond (24 in total). Closing the cast-on row, knit an edge loop, then two, then three loops together (covering, 10+11), 12, 13 two, three together (covering and 14+15), two each to the end of the row. When casting on loops in the second and subsequent rows, to add 1 loop after the edge loop, pull the thread out of the horizontal loop, then cast on as usual, before the edge loop, pull out another thread from the horizontal loop (26 in total), closing the row, perform decreases (as in the previous row) before and after the two middle loops. Knit eight rows of a double rhombus - element 1, make the final row of connecting posts, break the thread. Knit the next (and six more - 8 in total) double diamond. For the third row of rhombuses (variegated in the photo, green in the diagram), attach the thread to the right vertical edge of the double rhombus, cast on 24 loops along it, knit 8 rows according to the diagram, element 1. Without breaking the thread, cast on 12 loops for rhombus 2 along the vertical side of the element 1, knit 8 rows, break the thread. Next, element 3 is like the 1st, etc. To prevent the edge of the product from curling, tie it along the contour with several rows (gray thread, 4 rows) of single crochets. In the 1st row of the binding, knit 8 stitches along each edge of each diamond; on the outer corner, make 3 stitches from the same place. In the 2nd row, on the inner corners, knit 3 stitches together - decrease, on the outer corners - 3 times, 2 stitches from one (increase according to the half-circle pattern). Next, decrease the inner corners and round the outer corners (3 increases on each outer corner). The last row is a step step. The photo shows the face and back of the flower. To decorate the middle, knit a pink circle of 4 rows using single crochets behind the back half-loop (it will turn out thinner than a standard double crochet), and sew it — photo under the title. To increase the size of the product (rug, seat, tablecloth), you can take a thread of a different thickness or knit any number of rows of diamonds, each row will be made up of eight blocks - a double diamond plus 1 (2, 3, etc.) small diamond.
